Darkness Falls

While Nick was up on the third floor, the others were still sitting in the room trying to figure out what to do about this whole thing.

“Guys, we gotta go and look for Nick! He’s probably in a ton of trouble right now,” Teri said, sounding scared.

“Teri’s right,” Kevin said, “we need to go look for Nick, maybe we can help him out before he gets into too much trouble.”

None of the others looked to happy about leaving them room, all were thoroughly scared now. All of them were in the middle of something they never meant to get into.

The others finally agreed to go look. AJ went to go open the door when all of a sudden they heard a scream echo through the house, followed by an eerie laughter. They all stopped short and stared at each other in horror.

“Oh shit. What the hell was that?” Chris said softly.

“They had to be Nick, oh god, something must have happened to him,” Emily said.

“Let’s get out of this hall and start looking around. There is 4 floors to this place, he could be anywhere,” Lance told everyone.

The others nodded and started walking down the hall. They reached the end of it and JC looked out the window next to the entrance of the hall. He could see the sun setting on the horizon and he sighed, they still had all night to spend in this place with God knows what happening to them. What him and the others didn’t know is that when darkness fell, the place would turn into even more of a hell then now.

......................

After falling through the floor, Nick ended up landing on a hard floor. “Owww....fuck!!” he yelled out as he hit the concrete.

He slowly stood up, rubbing his sore back. “Aww....where the hell am I now?”

Wherever he was, it was pitch black. He tried to feel his way around but all his hands hit were air. Nick strained his eyes to at least see something but all he saw was blackness. “Might as well just sit on the floor here and wait for someone to find me,” he thought.

As soon as Nick thought that a chilling wind whipped through the room and the sound of heavy breathing could be heard. Nick froze. It was the same sound as before when he had been in the room with everyone. Nick slowly started to back up, wanting to get away from whatever was in the room with him. As he was backing up, he smacked into something. Nick wanted to scream but managed to contain it. He slowly lifted hi head and felt what he had pushed into. It felt like a wooden board, very rough feeling. Then his hand hit something smoother and rounded. His yanked his hand back when he hit something sticky and wet.

“What the....” Before Nick could finish that thought, there was a flicker and a bunch of dim lights flicked on. He was in a very large room with a huge door on either end of it. Blocking the doors were rusted over metal bars. Nick looked at what he had been touching and screamed. He jumped back in fright and stared at it. The wooden board had been one of those things that hold people in confinement after committing crime, they were from centuries ago. What was being held in it though was what made Nick scream. The skeleton of a person was still in it and there was blood all over it. As he watched, he noticed that blood seemed to be still coming from the skeleton, which Nick thought was extremely weird since skeletons don’t bleed. He look around the rest of the room and saw that many other skeletons were trapped in the same kind of things and all of them were bleeding also.

Nick was extremely scared now. Hadn’t Justin talked about seeing bleeding skeletons? Nick felt another presence in the room and quickly turned around. His eyes widened when he saw a figure in a black robe standing at the other end of the room. He couldn’t even see their face because it was covered. Nick heard the heavy breathing start again and realized it was coming from that thing. He slowly started backing up towards the other door and just as he did, the thing started walking towards him. Then the sound of screaming and pleas for help filled the room. Nick looked around and stared in shock as the skeletons came to life and started to move in their confinements.

As Nick was running towards the door, one of the skeletons reached out and grabbed his arm. Nick screamed and yanked it away, the blood of the skeleton now on him. The thing that had been walking towards him was now closer and started to reach out towards him. Nick looked at the hand and saw it was only a skeletons hand, no flesh covered it at all. Nick continued running at the door and finally reached it, but it was locked, the metal bars making it impossible to open the door.

“Oh God no! I don’t wanna die! Please don’t let me die!!” he screamed.

Nick felt something on his shoulder and that same cold feeling washed over him. He slowly turned around and stared at the thing in front of him. It’s eyes glowed through the blackness of it’s hood. Then it reached it’s hands up and slowly took it’s hood off. Nick could only stare, he couldn’t move or scream. It was the head of a skeleton but it had glowing eyes. It gave an evil laugh and in a deep, menacing voice said “Time for you to die like the other people here.”

Nick stared at the thing in horror before it grabbed him and he felt himself slipping into an icy blackness, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

......................

Meanwhile, the others were still on the second floor, deciding on how to look for Nick.

“Ok, guys, there’s 4 floors to this house and then there’s the basement. There’s 12 of us here. I think we should pair up and each group should be assigned a place to look, what does everyone think?” Brian said.

The rest of them looked at each other nervously then they all nodded. “We’ll do it,” Justin replied, “I’m just not gonna be the one to look in the basement. I absolutely refuse to go back down there.”

“And I’m not staying up here to check out this floor,” Teri added in, “I’ve already seen enough up here.”

“Ok ok, fine.” Howie said, wanting to get this over with. “So, who wants to go with who?”

The 12 of them paired up and chose where to go look for Nick. This is how it ended up, Brian and Teri would be up on the fourth floor. Emily and Laura were going to on the third floor. Joey and AJ would be staying on the second floor. Chris and Justin would be on the first floor. JC and Kevin would be on the basement and Lance and Howie would be looking around, trying to find a way out of the house.

“Ok, good luck everyone and try not to have anything happen to you,” Kevin warned them all.

They all nodded and went their separate ways unsure of what they would find through the rest of the house.

As they were walking to their destinations, the sun slipped fully behind the horizon and the house turned even darker then before. Darkness had just fallen and the long night still lay ahead of them.
