Chapter One
Do You Dare?

“All right Justin, truth or dare?” AJ asked.
“Dare, make it good too,” Justin replied, feeling brave.
AJ gave him a sort of evil smile. It was time to have some fun.
The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and three of their friends, Teri, Laura, and Emily,
were all playing a game of Truth or Dare over at Lance’s house. Contrary to
popular belief, BSB and NSYNC were good friends and hung out often. Teri,
Laura, and Emily had been good friends with the guys for a while too and loved
hanging out with them.
So far, their little game had been pretty innocent but AJ wanted to change it
around a little bit and make it more interesting, the game was getting pretty
boring.
“Why do I not like that look on your face, AJ,” Justin said, getting a little worried
with what he was going to have him do.
“Ohh...I’m just gonna make this dare a little more interesting....”
“Uh oh....that is not what I wanted to hear....” Teri said, wanting to leave the
room.
AJ thought for a second, it would be better if this dare was made on all of them,
yes, even himself.
“Ok guys, do you care if I make this dare for everyone here?” he asked.
“That would depend a little bit, what is the dare?” Brian said cautiously.
“Well....you guys all know of that old mansion up on the hill that everyone
around here says is haunted?”
“Yeah, that place creeps me out, I hate to even look at it, there’s so many
stories that have to do with that place,” JC said, shivering a bit.
“Ok, here’s the dare. I dare for all of us, to spend a night there in that place and
see if it really is haunted,” AJ said, looking proud of himself for thinking that up.
“Aww....hell no!!! You can’t get me near that freak of a place!!” Teri yelled.
“Yeah, I know. Teri’s right, I’m not getting near that thing.” Emily agreed.
“Ohh...come on guys. It’s not that bad....those are just stories, besides, it’s only
one night,” Chris said, “I’m willing to do it.”
“Great, Chris is in, how ‘bout the rest of ya?” AJ asked, looking around at them.
“Well....” Justin paused, thinking, “I did ask for the dare, so I guess I have to.
What the hell, I’m in for it.”
“Ohh, I’ll go!! I love places like that!” Nick exclaimed, looking excited.
Teri looked at him in disgust. “Didn’t you hear the story about the 5 college
students that went up there and never came back?! That place is haunted!”
“Stop worrying Ter, it’ll be fine,” Nick said, surprised by the way Teri was acting.
Laura had not said a word since this started so she finally spoke up. “Yeah, it
can’t be that horrible, I’ve heard the stories but one night isn’t gonna kill me. I’m
in.”
Teri looked in disbelief at her best friend. She had a feeling she was going to
lose.
AJ looked over at Kevin and Howie, who hadn’t said much either. “How bout you
guys? You in?”
The two looked at each other and shrugged. “Whatever,” Howie said, “I’ll do it
just to get you off my back.”
“Yeah, me too,” Kevin said, “Sorry Ter.”
Teri gave him a nasty look before turning away.
“You gonna chicken out Lance?” Chris said, laughing.
“Just for you saying that, I’m gonna go just to prove I’m not,” Lance said,
though he didn’t look to sure about it.
“Hey, if the rest of you guys are going, I’m in!” Joey said, “We needed an
interesting dare any ways.”
Emily sighed. “Whatever, I’m gonna be forced to go any ways might as well
accept, I’m not too keen on this dare though.”
Teri was shaking her head. “Ughh....I hate this. You gonna go Brian?” Teri
looked over at him. Brian was one of her best friends, having known each other
since before he was famous. She trusted him a lot and always went to him if she
needed someone to confide in.
“I think we should do it, one night won’t really hurt us,” he said, not really
looking happy about it though. Brian looked over at JC. “You in C?”
“I don’t wanna at all, I’m basically with Ter, but,” he pointed to the others,
“they’re gonna force us any ways.”
Teri groaned. “This is soo not fair. I’ll do it I guess, but don’t say I didn’t warn
you about the place, it’s haunted!”
“Don’t worry Ter, I’ll protect ya!” Nick said, with a grin.
“Ugh...now I know I won’t get out alive.”
AJ smiled. “All right, we’re all in. We’ll do it tomorrow night. The house is closest
to Brian’s place so we’ll meet over there around 4, k everyone?”
“Whoa, wait a minute,” Kevin said, interrupting, “we can’t just walk into the
place, does someone live there so we can warn them?”
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it,” AJ said nonchalantly.
They started to leave Lance’s house. Teri still looked really worried. Brian came
up to her and put his arm around her shoulders. “Come on Ter, stop worrying.
It’ll be fine,” he said, trying to comfort.
She sighed. “I know, but I’m still not sure about this whole thing.”
“Teri, it’ll be fine,” Laura said, trying to comfort her also.
Teri nodded as everyone was leaving. She walked over to her car after saying
good-bye to the guys. Laura and Emily piled into the car, since they were staying
at her house over night. She still had a bad feeling in her though. She felt like
this was gonna be more then just a little game of truth or dare. Teri
remembered what Laura had said early, about one night wasn’t gonna kill them.
But what if it did?
