No Lie

For non-islamic-fundamentalist women who wear loose long hair
in general public view, they have either one of two options
concerning and not regarding their indecent public mopheadedness:

They can either cut it off, or tie it into a back-of-head ponytail.

The wife and I have seen a lot of discount movies. I like the action and espionage movies, and she likes the romantic chick flicks and comedy ones.

She generally is willing to see my type of movie, unless she insists on watching a movie she prefers or thinks she will prefer which runs concurrently with my movie, so that both movies we see end at about the same time so we can exit simultaneously.

Seeing movies together gives us a chance to hold hands in the dark, or me to hang my arm around her - cheaper than paying $50 or so at a clip for Motel 6. And thinking about doing it in a lockable unisex lavatory in some gas station would not give us enough time to really get going, plus cleanup facilities would be deplorably lacking anyway.

Be that as it is (and not may be), sometimes my choice of movies is not the best, to say the least. Even perusing the trailer videoclips on chicagomovietimes.com for my geographically-zipcoded area and state sometimes does not give me an adequate-enough warning.

Case in point was the most recent movie we saw together with the title The Invention of Lying. Pizza Hut got some great publicity in the movie, being that The Ten Statements were posted on the back of two Pizza Hut pizza boxes (that is, five statements on the back of each one). [A similar case of advertisement occurred in the Sylvester Stallone movie Demolition Man with Taco Bell being advertised, but which Stallone movie I sure liked a lot better than the apparently impious and irreverent - even blasphemous - The Invention of Lying flick].

After viewing the film, I went back to the computer and clicked into the reviews posted by those who saw the movie. "Disappointing" wrote one. "Dribble" wrote another. "Mocking Christianity" one declared. "A complete waste of my money" another proclaimed. Sort of reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Admittedly, the was severe vulgarity in the movie, with one guy in the film blurting out: "F*** the Man in the Sky!" Think of the supercitation ticket which would have been issued him had he said that in the Stallone film Demolition Man!

Now for a more thorough movie review.

What innocent perhaps but also naive and gullible audience members had expected in the movie was an entertaining and edifying series of scenarios and scenes exemplifying discerning, revealing, surprising, and perhaps embarrassing declarations of true-intentions-exposed prophecy:

1Cor 14:21 In the law it is written, "By men of strange languages and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord."
1Cor 14:22 Thus, languages are a sign not for believers but for disbelievers, while prophecy is not for disbelievers but for believers.
1Cor 14:23 If, therefore, the whole church assembles and all speak in languages, and outsiders or disbelievers enter, will they not say that you are mad?
1Cor 14:24 But if all prophesy, and a disbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,
1Cor 14:25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.
1Cor 14:26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The movie began with a hometown barrage of non-kind, critical, cutting, and negative frank utterances rife and reeking with impolite rudeness voiced by those who supposedly always told the truth. It ended with the target hero of the film breaking up a wedding ceremony, coaxing the would-have-been bride away from the groom, convincing her to live together with him, then dishonestly lying with his compliant lying son about the tasteless food she made by calling it good.

In between were a lot of blatterizations conveying the presumptuous hero's inane lack of thorough theological understanding pertaining to the totality of the Bible containing the complete and non-heretically-altered doctrines of Christ.

At best, the movie is an indictment against cultic heretics infesting society and churches but which pseudo-believers are supposed to be bastions of unadulterated pure Biblical truth. It reflects the cruel and insensitive lovelessness of many during their everyday workweek life out in the business and commercial world.

What makes the non-funny, angrily-agitating, anti-beneficial movie not simply unpleasant but even disgustingly obnoxious is the ludicrous ridicule implied against certain aspects of Christian belief and faith (with shots of The Two paper-boxes pizza Tablets of The Ten Points, Man-in-Sky references, eternal life and everlasting mansions, hospital deathbed scenes, invitations to and attempts at non-fulfilled free fornication, sex with or without marriage, do-good-and-do-bad confusing and contradictory doctrinal dissertations, church, cross, cemetery gravestones).....all of which not only cast doubt against Biblically-based beliefs, but even blasphemously insinuate that Judeo-Christian authors of Scripture along with sacred and holy and righteous prophets and preachers were and are outright money-fortunes-greedy liars.

One of the movie reviewers apparently did some research on the movie author or producer or actor or whoever and said that he was: a "devout atheist." Moreover, probably a polluted Brit to boot. In any case, the entire cinematic shenanigan was obviously concocted and spewed out by a very weird goof with strange mixtures of fact and fantasy, reality seriously sullied with silly and irrational mythology.

Speaking of the contrast of mythology vs. Bibliology, atheists typically attempt to compare "reason" vs. "faith." In actuality, even atheists hypocritically think and move with all sorts of nonadmitted faith in practically everything they do, trusting the consistency of natural phenomena the Creator has created in all sorts of ways, starting with when they wake up in bed in the morning without fearing that God's created and consistently-maintained ceiling will capreciously come crashing down on top of them, that God's created and consistently-maintained floor their bed is platformed on will unexpectantly cave in underneath them, that God's created and consistently-maintained air they are breathing will all of a sudden become poisonous and asphixiating, that God's created and consistently-maintained gravity will cease to perfectly function in conventional parameters, that God's created and consistently-maintained atmosphere will stop protecting them against a meteor from the sky coming out of nowhere and crushing them, that God's created and consistently-maintained Sun will non-predictably explode and incinerate them, that the God-created-and-consistently-maintained ignition system of God's created and consistently-maintained car will fail to ignite God's created and consistently-maintained gasoline fumes with typical God-created-and-consistently-maintained explosiveness, and I could go on and on.

Reason alone - without Scripturally-enlightened knowledge - is not enough. "Reason" would cause us to douse a fire with gasoline, presume that a helium balloon will move backward inside an accelerating car, that the nipple on a thermos bottle is a manufacturing imperfection that needs to be chipped off, that crowding close to the car ahead and not letting people in when driving in the right-hand lane will cause traffic in that lane to move alone faster, etc. and much more.

So, for the record, atheists are the worst hypocrites around, by trustingly moving on in non-admittedly faith while depending upon the benevolence and consistency of what the Creator God has made, and thus in effect depending upon the benevolence and consistency of Creator God Himself....but hypocritically without admitting it nor giving God the glory.

Strangely, even though atheists think and move around with faith, they do not have confessing faith but rather are usually vocal in expressing their doubt and faithlessness:

2 Thess 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you,
2 Thess 3:2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not all have faith.

Christianity has lasted and gotten along quite well for approximately 2000 years, and Hebrew Judaism a few thousand years before that. Related godly hope through religious belief and faith has not been based upon atheistic doubt and disbelief:

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old received divine approval. By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear. (And guess what? I just quoted the Bible - verbatim).

Romans 5:5 .....and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us.
Romans 8:24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

If Christian hope and faith had been based upon atheistic disregard against the concept of God the Creator and His created natural phenomena, those who espouse Biblical Christianity would have perished a long time ago. But as it is, the non-atheistic saints have - through hope in God and faith in Him - done all sorts of remarkable things....both by themselves when trusting Him and His God-given resources, but particularly with his Divine coincidental and circumstantial help outside of themselves:

Hebrews 11:32 And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon [the scaredy cat], Barak [the feminist wimp], Samson [the cavorting longhair], Jephthah [the daughter murderer], of David [the with-Bathsheba adulterer and anti-Uriah hitman], and Samuel and the prophets
Hebrews 11:33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, received promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Hebrews 11:34 quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
Hebrews 11:39 And all these, though well attested by their faith, did not receive what was promised,
Hebrews 11:40 since God had foreseen something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

"Did NOT receive what was promised?" WHAT did they not receive, having done all the great things they did? How did they "get away" with doing wonders being that they were imperfect sinners? Are we talking God's grace and forgiveness here? Their good attitude toward Creator God and His existence, and eternity here?

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.

What is the outcome of atheists who do not believe in a Creator God, in stark comparison to those who believe in a Creator God?

Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God; consider the outcome of their life, and imitate their faith.

1 Peter 1:9 As the outcome of your faith you obtain the salvation of your souls.

What is the outcome of a fool atheist, who denies the existence of God, and then non-hypocritically acts upon that denial?

The insane asylums and cemeteries are full of them:

Psalms 14:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none that does good.
Psalms 53:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, doing abominable iniquity; there is none that does good.

If an atheist (particularly an evolutionary-mythologist one) denies the existence of the Creator God, and then non-contradictorily follows through on that disbelief, will God's created phenomena change themselves or be changed by the Creator God to accomodate the atheist's doubt?

Job 34:33 Will He then make requital to suit you, because you reject it? For you must choose, and not I; therefore declare what you know.

Job 11:12 But a stupid man will get understanding, when a wild ass's colt is born a man.

Atheists are the worst liars there are by denying the existence of God. Even satanic devils at least admit to the Lord's existence and some attributes of Divinity:

Matt 8:29 And hey, they cried out, "What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"

Mark 1:24 and he cried out, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God."
Mark 5:7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me."

Luke 4:34 "Ah! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God."
Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and said with a loud voice, "What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me."
Luke 10:17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!"

James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe--and shudder.

But SO WHAT if an atheist is indeed a fool?

Proverbs 10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.

Even though:

Ecclesiastes 2:16 For of the wise man as of the fool there is no enduring remembrance, seeing that in the days to come all will have been long forgotten. How the wise man dies just like the fool!

Yet:

Ecclesiastes 8:12 Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him.

I do not recommend seeing the movie, because you will not be missing anything crucial, vital, nor expedient for your life. If you do see the movie against my advice, for whatever questionable cause, you might want to keep the following Scripture verses in mind before, while, and after seeing it:

Job 24:25 If it is not so, who will prove me a liar, and show that there is nothing in what I say?"
Job 34:6 in spite of my right I am counted a liar; my wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.'

Psalm 101:5 Him who slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. The man of haughty looks and arrogant heart I will not endure.
Psalm 138:6 For though the LORD is high, he regards the lowly; but the haughty he knows from afar.

Proverbs 6:16 There are six things which the LORD hates, seven which are an abomination to him:
Proverbs 6:17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Proverbs 6:18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
Proverbs 6:19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and a man who sows discord among brothers.
Proverbs 17:4 An evildoer listens to wicked lips; and a liar gives heed to a mischievous tongue.
Proverbs 19:22 What is desired in a man is loyalty, and a poor man is better than a liar.
Proverbs 21:24 'Scoffer' is the name of the proud, haughty man who acts with arrogant pride.
Proverbs 30:6 Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

Matt 24:26 So, if they say to you, 'Lo, he is in the wilderness,' do not go out; if they say, 'Lo, he is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.

Luke 12:3 Therefore whatever you have said in the dark shall be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in private rooms shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:55 But you have not known him; I know him. If I said, I do not know him, I should be a liar like you; but I do know him and I keep his word.

John 14:2 In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you all may be also.
John 14:4 And where to I go you all know, and the way you all know."
John 14:5 Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we know not where You go; and how can we know the way?"
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man comes to the Father, but by Me.
John 14:7 If you all had known Me, you all should have known My Father also; and from henceforth you all know Him, and have seen Him."
John 14:8 Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it will suffice."
John 14:9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long a time with you, and yet have you not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; and how say you then, `Show us the Father'?
John 14:10 Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I speak not of Myself; but the Father who lives in Me, He does the works.
John 14:11 Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; or else believe Me for the very sake of the works.
John 14:12 Very truly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go to My Father.
John 14:13 And whatever you all shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
John 14:14 If you all shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.
John 14:15 "If you all love Me, keep My commandments.
John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may stay with you for ever
John 14:17 even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because they see Him not, neither know Him. But you all know Him, for He lives with you, and shall be in you.

Romans 1:28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.
Romans 1:29 They were filled with all manner of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity, they are gossips,
Romans 1:30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents,
Romans 1:31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

1Cor 15:12 Now if Christ is preached as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
1Cor 15:13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised;
1Cor 15:14 if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.
1Cor 15:15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified of God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised.
1Cor 15:16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised.
1Cor 15:17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.
1Cor 15:18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
1Cor 15:19 If for this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all men most to be pitied.
1Cor 15:20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
1Cor 15:21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
1Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
1Cor 15:23 But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.
1Cor 15:24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power.
1Cor 15:25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
1Cor 15:26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
1Cor 15:27 "For God has put all things in subjection under his feet." But when it says, "All things are put in subjection under him," it is plain that he is excepted who put all things under him.
1Cor 15:28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things under him, that God may be everything to every one.

2Cor 11:31 The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for ever, knows that I do not lie. Galatians 1:20 (In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie!)

Colossians 3:9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices

Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to further the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth which accords with godliness,
Titus 1:2 in hope of eternal life which God, who does not lie, promised ages ago
Titus 1:3 and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by command of God our Savior;
Titus 1:4 To Titus, my true child in a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
Titus 1:5 This is why I left you in Crete, that you might amend what was defective, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you,

2Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

1John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth;
1John 1:10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1John 2:4 He who says "I know him" but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
1John 2:21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and know that no lie is of the truth.
1John 2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
1John 2:27 but the anointing which you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that any one should teach you; as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.

1John 3:4 Every one who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness.
1John 3:8 He who commits sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
1John 3:9 No one born of God commits sin; for God's nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.
1John 4:20 If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.
1John 5:10 He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne to his Son.

Rev 13:5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months....

In contrast to blind and non-dependable, frequently faulty, often devastatingly-contradictory, and sometimes-irrational human "reason" touted by atheists, Scripture reminds us of real and non-self-destructive hope resulting in continuing and satisfying preservation and perpetuation of the believing saints:

Job 5:16 So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
Job 8:13 Such are the paths of all who forget God; the hope of the godless man shall perish.
Job 11:18 And you will have confidence, because there is hope; you will be protected and take your rest in safety.
Job 11:20 But the eyes of the wicked will fail; all way of escape will be lost to them, and their hope is to breathe their last."

Job 19:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth;
Job 19:26 and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God....

Job 27:8 For what is the hope of the godless when God cuts him off, when God takes away his life?

Ps 43:5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.
Ps 62:5 For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him.
Ps 65:5 By dread deeds You do answer us with deliverance, O God of our salvation, who are the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of the farthest seas

Within the Jewish Scriptures themselves is the assurance of the existence not simply of the LORD, but of His Son:

Prov 30:4 Who has ascended to heaven and come down? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has wrapped up the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his Son's name? Surely you know!
