Max has been playing music for eight or nine years, and he studied the cello for three years before starting on guitar and bass guitar. He has been teaching for five years. At any given moment, you're likely to find a record by the Beatles, Dave Brubeck or Led Zeppelin on his turn table, a CD by John Coletrane or Miles Davis in his boom box, and Mr. Bungle, Bach and Dream Theater in his stereo. Max likes almost all music. He has been in death metal bands, alternative bands, punk bands and big bands, but now he is focusing more on playing jazz. (Travis, another teacher at Backbeat, and Max are second cousins, and they worked together for over a year before they realized that they are related.)
