Alcohol is a drug made from fermented fruit, vegetables or grain.
But are the concequences of alcohol??
1. You feel relaxed and talkative
2. You do things you would not normally do
3. Your speech is slurred and you fall over
4. You lose concentration and eventually fall asleep
5. You can suffer from double vision
The risks of alcohol
It causes many accidents, e.g. traffic accidents and accidents at work.
It damages the heart, liver stomach and brain, increasing risks of heart attack, ulcers, liver disease and personality change.
Heavy use causes family violence and other social problems.
Overdose can cause death, e.g. through choking on vomit.
There are severe withdrawl effects.
It is damaging to drink during pregnancy.
It is illegal to buy alcohol under the age of 18
It is banned By many employers.

Local councilor Elaine Moore (above) was a youthful, inspiring, attractive young woman, but she turned to alcohol abuse. She lost her friends, and became an ugly old sod.

Alcohol is measured in units.
One unit is equivelant to half a pint (284ml) of ordinary strength beer, lager or cider.
You should only take up to 21 units a week (for men) and 14 units a week (for women).
On average it takes one hour for the body to get rid of one unit of alcohol.
Despite the fact that alcohol is deadly, it is still legal around the world, and can be bought by anyone over the age of 18.
Alcohol can kill... Don't do it!!
