Huntingtown Cemetery, established 28 December 1787, is located on Brushy Hill Road off Huntingtown Road in Newtown, Connecticut. Common surnames within the cemetery are Benedict, Blakeman, Botsford, Brisco, Dimon, French, Gilbert, Griffin, Parmelee, Peck, Summers and Toucey. The majority of the stones date from the mid- to late 1800s, but there are some 19th and 20th century burials. Overall, not a very remarkable cemetery.

Estimated number of interments, as of January 2024: at least 528.

who departed this Life Febr.y 26th, 1796

In the 66th Year of his Age."

Benedict

"George Benedict, born Mar. 1, 1801, died Mar. 9, 1882.

Faith universal.

Jerusha Northrop, wife of George Benedict, born Mar. 6, 1807, died Oct. 1, 1872.

Resting on that beautiful shore.

Emeline, daughter of G. & J. Benedict, born Sept. 21, 1830, died Oct. 21, 1831.

He giveth our beloved sleep."
