Coding
Why is coding such a sore subject?
I am a programmer. Part hobbist, part professional education; I've been at it for awhile and know almost every basic thing about it. i know the diffrence between a cracker and a hacker. And no, a cracker is neither a fibrous edible square nor a white kid.
The most annoying misuse of a term, though, is coding.
Coding is alot of things. But, mainly, it is using a computer language to do some work. Many people don't understand this. These idiots run around calling everything coding. HTML is not code. Any file is not code. Why? because you cna read raw HTML and get the same work done. Sure, it's harder on the eyes, but it never did anything. It's the same basic data.
Code requires a language and produces a runable script. HTML has a viewer and is technically a "mark-up" language. Code is a set of intructions, like a cook book. Do this, then this, then this. Only it's rmeo complicated, because it has variables and loops and other amazing active things. HTML is like taking a damn highlighter in said cook book. Sure, it presents information prettily, but unless it makes you 3-bean salad, it's not a code!
And so people runa round labeling things like idiots, and taking away from those who rightfully code. And stupid iodts try and paly off like they know all this shit when all they know is basic HTML, or god forbid, simple flash animations. Oh no! is your animation of a weasel fucking a goat going to infect my computer? Fuck off. You ain't coding, asshole. Quit trying to pretend.
