Growing mature is something that should come so naturally but for little Chase it was more complicated that it would have been, had she had a normal upbringing. Learning the ways of this Covenant were not easy for her, since this was a special one. It was dedicated not only to righteousness, but also to combat. They were an honorable last line of defense against evil. Trained from the moment they came to the convent to be ruthless and terrible fighters, but knowing when is the right time to show that side.
This would prove to be extremely hard on young Chase. Hard because she had never known any other way than that of the Sisterhood. She was,in her eyes anyway;born into this. She knew of her abandonment and in all honesty she even forgave her birthparents for "giving her up",for in her eyes they did not give her up...they gave her over to a higher purpose. She has never tried to seek them out since she sees no point in it. She has however dedicated herself totally to the cause of this Sisterhood. She has trained diligently and faithfully. She has spent several hours alone in meditation and prayer;as well as numerous hours training alongside Sister Carissa in the ways of fighting. She was soon seen by many of her fellow sisters as a true shining star of hope within their Covenant.
She trained as mentioned hard and long, sometimes even using her limited free time to perfect her form. She mastered every hold. Every punch. Every kick. And when she remotely thought that she could learn no more...she started back over with the basics. She took up one simple weapon as her own. She embraced it. Made it an unliving extension of herself. She took up the twin Sai as her personal "weapon of choice". She is masterful with them. To watch her wield them is a true thing of beauty, resembling more a showmanship of art than that of deadly fighting ability. She prefers this since death is something that she has vowed she will not allow. Even if dealt from her own hand. She has made it her personal goal to never kill, nor allow one to be killed.
Her training and ferocity in that training that has taken the place of anything else in her life. She has no sense of what she has missed...in her eyes it is no big deal. She missed a lot of the things that most girls her age would never take for granted. She has missed her first kiss. A first "love". Sister Carissa has often told her that is one regret she has for Chase, that she never had a chance to "be a kid" or "To have a normal childhood". Chase's response has usually been rather simple and in her eyes to the point "And how would I now know the difference?" This is true since the ways of this Convent and this Sisterhood is all she has ever known. Sister Carissa has spent many nights alone in meditation secretly wishing and hoping that one day Chase could at least experience some of what she had missed. Chase to herself sees no big deal over it...but has promised Carissa...that as she heads out now at the age of twenty one to try and help the world...She would keep an open mind on this "Missed life" and if presented she will partake...just to satisfy Sister Carissa's pain over it. All the while ignoring that through it all,her "Lost time" was personally "Her Sacrifice"
