Born Marion Knight April 19th 1966 in Los angles California in a rough part of L.A called Compton. Suge Knight’s father was a truck driver and also an R&B singer and his mother was a rap manager. When Suge Knight was in his teens he joined the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In years after University. Suge Knight worked as a bodyguard until 1989 when he became the co-founder of Death Row Records along with Dr Dre a well known rap artist from the group NWA. Together they signed an artist called Snoop Doggy Dogg who co-wrote Dr Dre’s first album The Chronic which went Multi Times Platinum.
Suge Knight wanted to have the best record label so he signed artists left,right and centre. The artists include: Nate Dogg, Lady of Rage, Porcha, Kurupt and the best signing of all Tupac Shakur who Suge Knight bailed out of prison for $500,000 in 1995 that is when Death Row Records really started to fly. Snoop Doggy Dogg and Tupac Shakur were releasing albums fast as lightning. Tupac was also in a lot of films two of which were: Gang Related and Poetic Justice. Things were going great for Suge Knight until 1996 when Tupac was shot four times in a drive by shooting in which Suge Knight was the driver. Tupac was pronounced dead six days later, which was a major loss to Suge Knight. What made matters even worse was that three of Suge Knight’s work force left. Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and Warren G three of Death Rows brightest stars left the company. However more trouble followed, Suge Knight was then investigated by the IRS the FBI for charges involving fraud and Drugs. Suge Knight was sentenced to a maximum of nine years in prison. Death Row Records was now closed.
In 1999 when Suge Knight came out of prison he was straight back in court a year later. The Outlawz took Suge Knight to court again for breach of contract. Suge Knight was found guilty and owed The Outlawz $4.5 million.
In 2001 Suge Knight started up Tha Row Records and immediately signed Kurupt and a couple of unknown artists things weren’t going too well and things got worse for Suge Knight, when he was going to sign Lisa Left Eye Lopes. However Lisa Left Eye Lopes tragically died in a car accident. SoLisa Left Eye Lopes never released an album on Tha Row. Let's hope 2003 looks better for Suge Knight
