Biography of Ice Cube

Real name O'Shea Jackson, alias Ice Cube, was born 15 June 1969 in Crenshaw, South Central Los Angeles, California, USA. He is considered to be one of the most hardcore rap artists ever to grace the music business. At the age of sixteen he joined a gangster rap group called "N.W.A" probably the most dangerous and most well respected rap group in the world fronted by Dr Dre. In 1989 "N.W.A" (Dr Dre, Easy E, Ice Cube and MC Ren set out to conker the world with their album “Straight Outta Compton”, which was the best album to be released by the fab four. In 1990 Ice Cube left "N.W.A" to seek solo stardom and what a ride it would be for the great gangster rapper.

 

In 1991 Ice Cube released his first solo album “AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted”, which was an immediate hit with main stream America. His controversial lyrics made “AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted” a big hit. In “AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted” he generally rapped about hurting pregnant women, and sexism. People loved the album. Consequently the album reached number 2 in the charts in the same year. 1991 also saw Ice Cube star in the Box Office smash “Boyz N The Hood, which got great film reviews and hit the top 10 in the film chart.

 

1992 was a good year for Ice Cube as the release of his second album "Preditor" and his third album "Lethal Injection". The two proved to be smashes yet again. Ice Cube was now in demand, in 1992 saw Ice Cube star in the Box Office smash “Trespass”, which had to be renamed because of the riots in Los Angles at that time. Since The release of “Trespass” Ice Cube has since starred in seven more films. These include “Friday” in 1995 which sees Ice Cube play a teenager embroiled in drugs with comic consequences, and the sequel to "Friday", "Next Friday". Both of these films were highly liked by America and the rest of the world.

 

During this time Ice Cube released various albums and soundtracks. These include War and Peace brought out in 1997 and the soundtrack to The Players Club. Ice Cube also started his own group up called Westside Connection who he is still rapping with today. In 2002 Ice Cube brought out his Greatest Hit’s album, which contains over a decade of smash hits. This year Ice Cube is set to star in "The Friday After". The follow up to "Friday" and "Next Friday".
