Biography of 2Pac

Real name Tupac Shackur, alias 2Pac was born in July 1971 and died on 13th September 1996. He died as a result of a drive by shooting. He was just 25 years old.

 

All the way through 2Pac’s early life he was always on the move. His mother was a single mother. 2Pac never knew his father. By the time 2Pac was six he had moved to three different houses. This was to be a reoccurrence later in life.

 

When 2Pac was 12 years old he enrolled at Harlem Theatre Group where he acted in a couple of plays. When he was fifthteen, he and his family moved to Baltimore where he joined Baltimore School of Arts. While he was there he wrote his very first rap song under the alias MC New York.

 

When 2Pac was 17 years old, 2Pac and his family moved to Marine City CA. He only lived there for a short while as his mother’s drug addiction worsened and 2Pac was kicked out on the streets. Where he then moved in with a couple of friends he met in his younger life, during this time he learnt self defence and generally had a fun time.

 

In 1990 2Pac's life was to change in a big way for the good, and for the bad also. 2Pac joined a group called "Digital Underground" as a roadie after a couple of months he was snapped up by Shock G part of "Digital Underground". Shock G offered 2Pac a rapping part on Digital Underground’s hit single "Same Song" which in turn launched 2Pac’s hip hop career but also his demise.

 

In 1991 2Pac’s first album came out titled "2Pacalypse Now" was to make 2Pac one of the greatest rappers in history

In 1992 2Pac made his movie debut in "Juice" where he played a gang leader in a high school. In the same year "2Pacalypse Now" was taken from the shops apparently for been too violent.

 

In 1993 2Pac appeared again on the silver screen in "Poetic Justice" along side Janet Jackson. In the same year 2Pac released his second album "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.S", which went platinum.

 

In 1994 2Pac released two albums "Thug Life" and "Me Against the World". He also starred in his third film "Above The Rim" where he plays a gang leader. Then things turned worse for 2Pac, when he was convicted of sexual assault. Two days before he was to be sentenced, he was shot five times in a New York recording studio rumours escalated that it was his long time friend Biggie Smalls who shot him. 2Pac has always said this to be true. The day after he was shot he appeared in court and was found guilty of sexual assault and sent to prison for four and a half years. However 2Pac only served six months in prison thanks to Suge Knight, who bailed him out for a staggering  $600 000. 2Pac immediately signed for Suge Knight's Label Death Row Records.

 

In 1996 2Pac realised two new albums "All Eyes On Me" and "The 7 Day Theory" in his alias Makaveli. In the same year he also appeared in two films "Gang Related" and "Gridlock’d". These two films would be his last. On 9th September 2Pac was shot four times in a drive by shooting in New York he later died in hospital on Friday 13th September. Nobody was ever arrested for his murder.

 

After 2Pac’s death a lot of his albums that 2Pac himself never had chance to release were released by his mother Alfeni, these albums include: "R U Still down", "2Pac Greatest Hits", "The Rose That Grew From Concrete", "Until The End Of Time" and "Better Dayz".
