Biography of Biggie Smalls 

 

 

Real name Christopher Wallace, alias Biggie Smalls was born on 21st March 1972 in Brooklyn New York. He died 9th March 1997 as a result of a drive by shooting. He was just  24 years old.

Biggie Smalls first shot to fame in 1992 when he rapped lyrics on Mary. J. Blige's Album "What's The 411". Biggie Smalls' in 1993 brought out his first single "Party and Bull shit", which was released on "Who's The Man" sound track. After the success of "Party and Bull shit" his was approached by Puff Daddy, The Chief Executive of Bad Boy Records. Who immediately signed up Biggie Smalls,  not bad for a person who was a convicted crack dealer. Things were finally looking up for Biggie Smalls.

One year after Biggie Smalls' was signed to Bad Boy Records his new album "Ready to Die" was released in the shops. The album became the most popular hip hop song of the year ahead of TLC's Creep Album. However Biggie Smalls then sparked a friendship with another well know rap artist from the West Coast, Tupac Shackur  alias 2Pac. Throughout 1993 and 1994 the two were inseparable performing on stage with each other and backing singing each other up. However their friendship was soon to end.

In 1994 2Pac was shot five times inside a New York recording studio where he was supposed to meet his best friend Biggie Smalls. That was the moment Biggie Smalls and 2Pac were to end there friendship as 2Pac was convinced that Biggie Smalls shot him. Biggie Smalls from that day to the day he died professed his innocence.

In 1995 a year after the shooting "The Ready to Die" album continued to gross in sales throughout 1995 a staggering 2 million copies of the album were sold altogether between 1994 and 1995. "Ready to Die" is still a top selling album to this day.

In the same year 1995 his rapping talent continued to progress as he sparked a long term friendship with Lil Kim,  Lil Cise and Junior Maffia who rapped on some of his singles and improved the publics view of him. Biggie Smalls helped Junior Maffia's "Conspiracy" album go Gold and Lil Kim's Album "Hardcore" the same fate.

The year 1997 became the worst year of some people's lives, as the much loved rap artist was murdered in Los Angles California as a result of a drive by shooting he died instantly. The killer has never been found. He left behind his wife and new born child and much loved friends.
