TRAVEL TO SYMI - FERRIES TO SYMI IN GREECE

On the island of Symi there is no airport, so the only way to get there is by sea. There are ferries from Piraeus to Symi a couple of times each week, but the journey takes a long time. The best option is to fly to the island of Rhodes and take it from there. From Rhodes there are regular ferries to Symi and the other islands in the Dodecanese and there are plenty of daytrip tours that go to Symi as well. Check the websites of Dodekanisos Seaways en Anes-Symi Lines (fast hydrofoils). Anes-Symi Lines has got a small fast boat that cannot take any cars on board. This company sails to Symi and than back again (see picture left red line) and with another ferry the route Rhodes - Symi - Tilso - Nissyros - Kos (black line). For the trip from Piraeus (Athens) to Symi check the GA Ferries website. This company has a ferry that goes from Piraeus to the Dodecanese islands a couple of times a week and that makes a stop at Symi island as well (Piraeus - Patmos - Lipsi - Leros - Kalymnos - Kos - Symi - Rhodes see picture on the left). You can check initiaries and book a ticket online at Ferries in Greece. Especially if you want to book a superfast ferry in the high season this is not a bad idea.
