- The village of Kamari on Santorini - This village situated on the south east side of the island is a tourist attraction because of its beach but it is also an older village which was strategically positioned on the coast. Although mostly destroyed in the 1956 earthquake and later rebuilt the village has a couple of interesting sights. There are a few old churches amongst which are the Panagia Myrtidiotissa church and the Panaghia Episkopi church that dates from the 11th century. The beach of Kamari is about 2 kilometers long and consists of black lava sand. Along the beach there are many restaurants and bars to choose from and of course there are plenty of accommodations.
