Gavrio is the main port for the ferries that visit the island of Andros. It is situated on the nortwest coast of Andros and has a couple of friendly islands laying in its bay. It is not the most inviting ferry port in the Cyclades, with a line-up of cars on the harbour front and dusty roads. Gavrio comes with a long, narrow beach with rather hard sand because the ingoing and outgoing ferries flush the beaches in the bay. On this beach there are a couple of houses and a taverna. It is a rather busy little village with a variety of tavernas, car rentals and a good supermarket on the harbour front.
Gavrio is also the place to buy your ferrytickets to the next destination or for your return to Rafina harbour.
Just outside of Gavrio in the direction of Batsi you will find many nice sandbeaches, and just a little north is the beautiful unspoiled beach of Felos.
