Can't get into my account, etc

So there I was, boldly upgrading my alternate accounts. When I updated one, I decided the email address was too long to sign in with. By instinct or laziness, I quickly decided to change it to a shorter one that didn't exist so it'd be faster to log in. I did just that. Then I attempted to log back into my alt. Suddenly, an error message appeared!!

You must first activate your account by clicking on the link in the e-mail sent when you registered.

Uh oh. I was surrounded! Luckily, I spent those ten year training in Tibet, and, armed with a mere glazed ham, I used my knowledge to contact the MBH people. And here we are.

You know, CJayC was right. My accounts are a lot more secure now. From myself. Any suggestions on how to save my account?

Sorry to sound mean, but that was a rather stupid thing to do.

The only way you're gonna get that account back is by sending CJ an email, and explain what you did. (Which I would imagine there would be one hell of a load of backlog)

Heh, yeah. I'm still waiting for a response from mid-summer 2003. Well, at least it wasn't that important of an account. But it did have sentimental value. By which I mean I could have sold it on Ebay.

Okay Xim, I think I have a few things you can try out. First, are you absolutely sure that you updated with this page?

http://www.gamefaqs.com/user/upgrade_account.html

If so, good. Next, go to File -> Work Offline. Now go to this page:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/user/confirm_upgrade_account.html

If it is able to load, check the info and see if everything is right. Now go back and unselect Work Offline.

Okay, logout. Go to the login box. Make sure you are trying to login with the fake email and the new password for that account. Still doesn't work?

If that still gives you the stupid activation crap, try going to:

http://www.gamespot.com/index.html.

Try logging in there. If you aren't able to login there, then I don't know what to do. Ceej will probably eventually add an option to resend activation emails (even though upgrading an account shouldn't even send out an activation email- mine never did). But if you can login there, then we are in business! Go to this page:

https://secure.gamespot.com/rps/misc/edit_profile.html

Now edit that email to one that exists, and don't do that again, you crazy man-who-sticks-apples-in-his-ears.

And if you still can't get anything to work, make sure you are trying to login with the email address you provided and the password you provided on the upgrade form. And if that doesn't work, try logging in with just the alternate account's name and old password.

I have climbed the peaks of Hell; mountains built from the souls of sin. I have bathed in the fires of Hell; flames fueled by souls consumed with hatred. I have danced with demons; their lips sweet with promises of power. I have become one of them; given myself to their devices. And at the end, I finally reclaimed my alternate account. You still kick ass, Rocky! And I'm not talking about Stalone.

Now edit that email to one that exists, and don't do that again, you crazy man-who-sticks-apples-in-his-ears.

Hey! Don't you pry into my sex life!
