Even I can’t explain why this should be so. It seems that since neurons communicate by way of electrical impulses, that thoughts should travel at some fraction of the speed of light, and it really shouldn’t take that long. But, given the scientific evidence that the electrical signals are carried by chemical neurotransmitters, maybe they slow the transfer rate down, in addition to resistance that comes from travelling through brain tissue. Additionally, a person’s general mental state varies along with changes in the balance of chemicals in the brain, so the functionality of the neurotransmitters may be affected- proof: why do you do worse on tests on the days you aren’t feeling well, or have a cold?
