"Stop don't come near, Eric, the wolves or myself and the wolves will walk only between Eric's and my sides." My voice is sharp, announced like I myself am royalty.

"Alright, you are Eleana…. Still why do you allow them to hunt our food." The king demanded yet again.

"Your people hunt in the forest and raise their own food. I therefore allow the wolves to take a little of yours." I say again with a soft voice.

"A little…your wolves take three or four cattle at once!" The king bellows furiously.

"In order to feed the pack fully we would need fifteen or twenty of your precious cattle." Eric said as he moves next to me.

"Let them get that meat in the wild!" The king shouted.

"They do not have enough food there. Here we will not touch your cattle for one month, unless they die naturally. After that time has past we will meet again." I said, and then turned and left without waiting for a reply.

As a month passes the active wolf pack slowly shrinks in size, while the wolves only hunt in the wild. At this time, Eric and Eleana head back to the castle. They both walk calmly into the thrown room. The king is busy trying to deal with all the recent problems.

"How are your cattle faring?" I asked calmly.

"Half of them are ill and a quarter have died. How was it when your wolves ate some this did not happen?" the king asked with a very concerned look on his face.

"The wolves picked off the sick cattle before they were able to harm the others." Eric explains calmly.

"Alright, your wolves and pick off the sick and dying from the herds. The farmers in my kingdom will no longer hunt them." The king said as he walked down to where Eric and I stood. Before he reached us we had left. The king mounts his horse and follows, easily catching up to us.

"Why do you leave my castle so quickly? I didn't get a chance to invite you to a meal." The king asked as he reached Eric and myself.

"We would not want to create a problem in your dinning hall." Eric said kindly. I turn to the king my eyes cold.

"We have weak and dyeing wolves to tend to at home." I rode off; I did not look back to see if Eric followed.

"Well, she seems to be uptight." The king said as he watched Eleana ride off.

"She is only alive today to protect the wolves. She holds tightly to that." Eric said as he bowed and then left.

"Well, I will visit the pack one day soon." The king said turned his mount and headed back to the castle.

The pack's strength returned and they began their life once more. In two or three months time the king came to visit. Eleana came to greet him.

"Well, nice to see you out here. I must tell you your crown will not get you much respect here." My voice was calm but I spoke very quickly and then took off. The king heard the calls of the returning wolves. The king moved forward to see what the commotion was about then he saw the pack, five cattle being dragged behind the pack.

Eric was carried back up on the back of one of the wolves, he was bloody, and many bones broken. The king saw that and looked for Eleana, he saw her, head down, and the wolf she was ridding on went towards the king.
