Fish care is paramount
Unhooking Mat a descent unhooking mat, I prefer using the Cradle type of mat, always keep carp close to the ground never stand up with them. While the carp is in the mat keep the carp wet at all times the best thing is to keep a bucket filled with lake water next to your mat, if the carp starts to flap cover it's eyes and this will calm it down. Always wet you mat before placing a fish in it.Always keep the carp on it's side never place a carp on it's stomach
Weigh / Recovery Sling Ideal for retaining your catch while you get your camera set up
Weighing Scales a good set of scales allows accurate weighing of your prize catch,I recommend Reuben Heaton Dial scales
After you have weighed and photographed your fish, return your catch safely in the weigh sling, keeping the fins tight against the carps body carry the sling low to the ground place in the water unzip the end adjacent to the carps head and allow the carp to regain it's strength and swim off strongly.
Landing Net a minimum of 42 inches is recommended when you have the carp safely in the net remove the handle make sure the carps fins are tight against it's body then roll the mesh up and lift from the water keeping it low to the ground.
A 40lb plus carp sits calmly in the folds of a large net.
Antiseptic no angler should go fishing without this, use to treat hook marks, scratches, sores etc.
