DISK 1

  

WALKTHROUGH

 

AREA: BALAMB GARDEN AND FIRE CAVERN

SAVE POINTS: Hallway, Training Center, and Squall’s room

DRAW POINTS: Esuna: Library, Cure: Near front gates, Blizzard: Training facility

CARDS: Quistis: 2 students in classroom or cafeteria, Mini-Mog: Person running in hall.

When you wake up in the infirmary, follow Quistis to the classroom.  Go sit at your desk and access the tutorial.  You will get 2 GF’s, Quezacotl, and Shiva.  Quistis will remind you that you still need to pass the Fire Cave exam.  You can explore the Garden a bit if you want.  When you’re ready to leave, go to the front gate and meet Quistis.  Once you exit the Garden, the Fire cavern is to the East.  You may want to get into a few random battles and stock up on some cure, and ice spells.  Make sure you Junction the new GF’s.  Junction one to each character.  When your ready, go to the fire cavern.  You will be given four choices, choose 10 minutes, it’s all you need, plus it will raise your ranking later.  Quistis will babble on, about the cavern.  Keep walking while you listen.  Just go straight until you meet your first boss, Ifrit.  Ifrit’s not that tough, just keep casting Ice spells, and hit him with Squall’s physical attacks. Get him down to about 50-75 hp’s, and wait until the counter gets to around 30 seconds, then take him out.  The lower the time on the counter, the better ranking you will get.  On the way out, stock up on some magic from the Buel’s.  Go back to the Garden, and when you enter, Quistis will tell you to get changed.  Go to your room on the North end of the Garden and change.  Make sure you save at the save point in the room.  When your done, go to the main hallway where the directory is and meet with the others.  You will then go to the parking garage and get in a car.  Drive to Balamb to the south and enter.  Once you get to Balamb, go to the docks and get on the ship.  Quistis and Xu will inform you on the SeeD field exam.  Talk to everybody in the room, then Seifer will tell you to go outside, do so.  When you go out, you will get a FMV.

 

AREA: DOLLET

SAVE POINTS: Beach, and Communications Tower

When you land, go to the save point and save.  Follow Seifer up to the town square.  You will fight along the way, make sure you stock up on magic and make sure everybody has a GF.  Don’t talk to anybody along the way, you are being graded.  When you get to the town square, wait for Seifer’s orders.  Seifer will suggest going to the tower, and you do.  You will battle monster on the way up, keep everyone healed, and stock up as much as you can and junction it to your party.  Eventually, you will run into Selphie.  She will deliver some news on the evacuation.  Don’t take her shortcut to the tower, or you will be deducted on your score.  When you get to the tower, she will join you.  Take the GF from Seifer, and give it to her and the magic as well.  Save at the save point, and then go up.  You will see Biggs and Wedge working on the tower, and after the FMV, you will fight them.  This battle isn’t hard, stock up on Esuna from Biggs.  When the battle is close to being over, they will be swept away, and the fight with Elvoret will begin.  As soon as this fight starts, draw Siren (GF) from it.  Then, draw the Double magic and cast it on every character.  Stock up on as much as you can, then pound away with your physical attacks and GF’s.  The battle will be over before you know it.  Once it is, you will have 30 minutes to escape the town.  Don’t talk to Biggs on the way out.  When you get to the bottom and go out, you will be attacked by the X-ATM092.  When the battle starts, hit it with any Thunder magic you have, and use Quezacotl.  You should only have to summon it once and X-ATM092 will be stunned.  When this happens, run.  You only have to battle it once; the other encounters CAN be avoided.  When you are rounding the pass ahead, stick to the bottom side and it will pass right over you.  In the next area, don’t run, just walk at first; the vibration the X-ATM092 makes will stun you, and you will have to fight it again.  When you reach the bridge, wait until the X-ATM092 jumps over you, then turn around and run the other way.  The X-ATM092 will jump over you again, when this happens, turn around again and exit.  In the square, quickly talk to the dog to save it.  The rest of the way is quite easy to manipulate.  You will see some cool FMV’s along the way.  When you reach the beach, you will board the ship and head back to Balamb.  Good job, you passed the Exam!  When you get back, you’re free until you go back to the Garden.  Stop by Zell’s house if you wish.  When you get a deck of cards, if you haven’t already, stop here with Zell in your party and challenge her to Triple Triad.  You can will Zell’s card from her.  You can get a copy of Timber Maniacs in the train station.  When you are done exploring, head back to the garden.  You will have to walk because Seifer took the car.  When you get back, head to the main hall.  You will talk with Quistis and Xu, then Cid.  Walk to the right to find Seifer, talk to him.  You will then hear the announcement for all the seed candidates.  Go to the second floor and wait for the instructor to come and get you.  You will go to Cid’s office and be congratulated on your success.  Talk to him immediately again, and he will give you the Battle Meter.  With this, you can view information on your battles in the tutorial.  Head to your room and change clothes to attend the ball.  After you change, go to the Ball.  You will meet Rinoa here, and dance with her.  After you dance, Quistis will tell you to go change and then meet her at the Training Center.  Do so.  When you get there, you will go to the secret spot in the back and she will tell you she isn’t an instructor anymore.  After the talk, go out and save.  You will hear someone scream, you go to check it out.  You will be forced to fight Granaldo and three Raldo’s.  Here is a chance to stock up on Shell, and Protect magic, do it.  Cast protect on both members, then attack the Raldo’s first.  After you kill the Raldo’s, the battle is easy, so finish of Granaldo, then talk with the kid.  Go to your dorm and save.  The next morning, go to the front gate and learn your next mission.  After the talk, speak with Cid again and he will give you the Magical Lamp. Using this Lamp will put you in a battle with Diablos, a new GF.  Save the game and use it. I like to fight him now, but you don’t have to though.  If you fight now, he is still weak, and you have a better chance.  When the fight begins, draw Demi from him, and then cast it on him.  All you have to do is keep one person alive.  Keep drawing and casting Demi, and use your Limit Breaks when you get them.  After the fight, you get Diablos, a new GF.  With Diablos, you can learn Mug, which is very useful.  Before you leave, play Cid in cards and win the Seifer card from him.  Leave and head to Balamb to catch the train.  Once you get to Balamb, go to the train station and buy a ticket.  It will cost 3000 gil.  On the train, open the door for Selphie, and then go to the room.  In the room, you all will pass out and go into  “dream world” again. 

 

In the dream, you will play as Laguna, Kiros, and Ward.  As Laguna, make your way through the forest, it’s very easy, and Laguna and the gang are pretty strong anyway.  Once you get in the car, you will drive to Deling City automatically.  When you get there, walk east until you see the Galbadia Hotel.  Go inside and sit down.  Keep talking to Julia until you go to her room.  Continue the conversation until it switches back to Squall.  Once you have control over Squall, you will stop at Timber.  When you get off, someone will walk up and make a statement.  Remember the password Cid gave you?  It’s “But the Owls are still around”.  Once you are accepted, you will board another train.  You will meet Watts, and Zone, two members of the resistance group Forest Owls.  They will ask you to go wake up Rinoa, the girl you met at the dance.  You will have a meeting, and then you are given your orders.  They are to kidnap the president Vinzer Deling.  Before you start the mission, go back to Rinoa’s room and get the Pet Pals book, then save at the save point.  When you’re ready, talk to Zone and Watts and you’ll begin.  Just follow the directions Rinoa gave you earlier and you will be fine.  Once you get to the last car, make sure everyone is junctioned with a GF.  You will now fight the Fake President, and then Gerogero.  The fake president is a push over.  When you cause enough damage, he will turn into Gerogero.  When this happens, stock up on magic when you get the chance, and when you are afflicted with any abnormalities, draw Esuna from him and use it.  When you defeat him, you will arrive back at Timber.

 

AREA: TIMBER

SAVE POINTS: Timber Hotel, Back Alley, Train Platform (Hidden)

DRAW POINTS: Blizzaga: Timber Maniacs, Cure: Bar, Scan, Back alley

BOOKS: Pet Pals 3-4: Pet store, Timber Maniacs and Girl Next Door: Timber Maniacs Office.

 

Once you get to Timber, talk to Watts, and then you will leave the train.  Go to the Bar and fight the soldiers outside and get the cards from them.  Go into the Bar and give the cards to the drunken guy in front of the door to get him to move.  Go through the alley and up to the TV station.  Here you will see some things unfold, and then Quistis will join up with you.  Guards are all over the place, so you need another way out.  Find Rinoa and talk with her and she will tell you where to go.  Once you get to the house, talk with everybody, and again when you are downstairs.  Quistis will tell you that you should head to Galbadia Garden.  When you leave the house, go to the place where you went to the Bar.  Here you will speak with Zone and Watts and obtain some tickets for the train.  When you board the train, open the door for Selphie again, and talk to everybody.  When the train gets to East Academy Station, get off.  Walk North and pass through the forest in between the cliff.  When you go in, you will then go into the “dream world” again.

 

 

AREA: ESTHAR

SAVE POINTS: 2nd floor crossroad

DRAW POINTS: Cure: 2nd floor, Confuse: Top floor, Sleep: Entrance

 

When you start, just keep following the walkway until you see the ladder; go down.  When you get down, look for the Key on the ground.  Laguna will lose it, but it will come in handy later.  In the next area, mess with the floor panel to set a trap.  In this area, look for the other Key, again, it will be lost.  Keep heading up and when you find the explosives, hit the Red first, then the Blue.  Further up, push the bolder to access a hidden cove with the Cure draw point.  This will allow access to some items later in the game.  Along the way, you will fight some Gespers.  Keep fighting them until you get a Black Hole, which will teach Quistis the Degenerator magic.  Once you get to the crossroads, Save, the go north.  You will now be outside, and you will have to fight two Esthar soldiers.  They aren’t hard to beat, but on the last blow, it will perform Soul Crush on Kiros and Ward.  Jump off the cliff to the ocean below.  You will now be in control over Squall again.  Go through the forest, across the desert until you get to Galbadia Garden.

 

AREA: GALBADIA GARDEN

SAVE POINTS: Foyer, Rear Hall, 2nd floor.

DRAW POINTS: Haste: Foyer, Double: Auditorium, Shell: Fenced area near tennis courts, Life: Locker room.

 

Enter the garden and Quistis will go off to speak with the Headmaster.  You will be instructed to go to the 2nd floor waiting room.  When you get there, talk to everybody and Squall will get upset and leave.  You will run into Fujin and Rajin out in the hall.  They will leave and go look for Seifer.  Go to the front gates to find Quistis.  Go outside and meet your new partner, Irvine.  You are given orders from the headmaster.  The orders are to assassinate the Sorceress.  You need to leave the garden and head West to the Train station.  Board the train and talk with everyone to progress the story.  You will arrive at Deling City.

 

AREA: DELING CITY

SAVE POINTS: Galbadia Hotel

DRAW POINTS: Thundaga: Town square.

BOOKS: Timber Maniacs: Hotel

 

When you arrive at Deling, make your way to the stairs that lead to the street.  Rinoa will tell you she lives here.  Wait for the Bus, and when it arrives, get on.  You will see the destination in text so get off at Caraways Mansion.  The guard won’t let you pass until you prove you are worthy.  He gives you a mission: Find an ID number in the Tomb of the Unknown King.  You can buy the locator if you want, it makes things easier, but you don’t need it.  Go to the car rental and rent a car.  This is a long walk, you don’t have to rent a car, but it’s much quicker to do so.  Continue down the peninsula until you see the Tomb.  Enter the tomb, and in the second hallway up, you will find the ID number.  Remember this number, it’s the one the guard needs.  You can leave now, that’s all you need, but you will miss out on another GF.  Lets continue here.  Every time you get to an intersection, go right.  You will eventually come to a room with a statue, or at least you think!  You will fight Sacred in the first room.  When the battle begins, start drawing and stocking his spells.  He carries Life, so stock all the way up if you can.  When you are done stocking, just attack with weapons and GF’s if you like, and the fight won’t last long.  After the fight, he will run away.  Continue around the tomb turning right each time until you come to the next room.  In the next room, open the floodgate, and then continue through the tomb.  Keeping right, you will come to the next room.  In this room, hit the switch to lower the drawbridge, then continue out, keep turning right and you will be at the beginning again.  Go out and save the game, then return inside and go straight up until you get to the last room.  This is where you will fight the Brothers.  Remember the guy you beat earlier?  He’s now back with is little big brother.  When the battle begins, draw and cast float on your party members to protect them from their Mad Cow special attack.  Once you do that, draw and cast protect on you the same way to lighten the damage you receive.  Summon your strongest GF’s, and pound away using Life when and if you need it.  Once you beat them, they will join you as a new GF, the Brothers, and give you their card.   Make your way out, then back to Deling City.  Find the guard and give him the password you got earlier in the tomb.  You have to give him the numbers in this order: Ones, Tens, and then Hundreds.  He will let you pass when given properly.  When you enter the mansion, Rinoa let’s you know she lives here, and General Caraway is her dad.  General Caraway will tell you the plan, listen carefully.  After he leaves, Rinoa comes in and talks a bit, then Caraway scalds her and she runs off.  You will leave the mansion to get into position for the plan. As Rinoa, climb the boxes and crates to get to the top of the building.  When you reach the top, go in and speak with the Sorceress.  She will use a spell on you and render you unconscious.  You will then be switched back to the gateway team.  Quistis comes back for Rinoa when she gets locked in.  Grab the glass from the self then put it in the statues hand to reveal the secret passage.  Go down the steps until you get to the sewers.  The sewers aren’t that hard to navigate.  Just keep heading north and checking all doors along the way.  When you can’t go north, hop on the water wheels and you will get to the other side.  Eventually you will get to the end, climb the ladder and wait for the signal to lower the gates.  When you are in control of Squall again, go back to where Rinoa climbed the boxes and follow the exact route.  You may want to go into the sewer right there while you are in the area.  Go down and just follow to the left until you pick up Weapons Monthly May issue.  Once you are at the top of the building, you are forced to fight the Two Iguions.  Draw Carbuncle from one of them immediately, then put them to rest with physical attacks.  They aren’t very strong, however they can cause stone to a person, and if so, draw Esuna and cast it on the affected person to cure them.  After the fight, get Rinoa and head to the hidden hatch in the hallway and talk to Irvin and wait. When the time is right, lower the gates, then Irvin will take the shot at the Sorceress but she is ready and deflects the bullet.  Time for plan B. Squall leaps down and hops into a car and charges the Sorceress.  When you get there, you will have to fight Seifer, but he is pretty weak, just take him out.  When Seifer is gone, Rinoa and Irvin will join you.  Stock up on all the magic you can, the Sorceress has some strong magic you will want.  Summon Carbuncle to protect the party, then just attack and use your strongest GF’s and the battle will go smoothly.  After you beat her, she will cast here Limit Break on Squall and hurl an ice javelin into his chest and he falls to the ground.  After the FMV, disk one will be finished.

WALKTHROUGH

 

AREA: WINHILL

SAVE POINTS: Laguna’s bedroom

DRAW POINTS: Reflect: road, Drain: road, Dispel: boat dock, Curaga: Laguna’s bedroom

 

When you start disk 2, you will wake up as Laguna.  You are in Winhill, a small village in Galbadia.  Your job is to clear the town of monsters.  When you go to the bar, meet up with Kiros.  Chat with him awhile, then go to work.  You need to go all the way down to the shop, then back.  When you get back, you will talk with Raine, then go to your bedroom and take a nap.  When you wake up, you will be in control of Squall again.

 

AREA: D DISTRIC PRISON

SAVE POINTS: 1st floor, 6th floor, 10th floor, Control room

DRAW POINTS: Thundaga: 11th floor, Berserk: 9th floor

BOOKS: Combat King 001, 1st floor

ITEMS: Pet House: 3rd floor, Pet Nametag: 2nd floor, Str Up: 2nd floor, Tent: 4th floor

In the cell, you will devise a scheme to escape.  When you are free as Zell, go to the floor above and get everyone’s weapons back, and return to the cell.  You will end up in a battle with Biggs, and Wedge.  Stock up on Haste, Esuna, Reflect, and Regen as much as possible.  They are weak; so after you plunder all the magic you wish, take them out.  Head up to the 13th floor to find Squall, and talk to all the Moombas on the way.  When you get to the top, use the elevator to go down to the bottom only to find out you’re buried!  On the way up, Squall will rescue Zell.  Irvin will show up and save the day along with Rinoa.  Split into 2 teams.  Take Irvin’s team to the 3rd floor, and take Squall’s team up to the top.  Irvin’s team will ride the elevator up while Squall’s team will have to battle a pair of GIM52a’s and an Elite guard.  They aren’t difficult to defeat.  After the battle, Squall will have to climb to safety.  Hold the right directional button down to reach the other side.  After the escape, you will split into 2 parties again.  The choice is yours to decide.  I like Zell and Irvin with Selphie personally.  Drive to the Missile base and go inside.

 

AREA: GALBADIA MISSILE BASE

SAVE POINTS: Entrance, and launch bay

DRAW POINTS: Full Life: launch bay, Blind: observation deck, and Blizzara: circuit room

BOOKS: Weapons monthly June: BGH251F2

 

You will be disguised when you enter.  Enter the left door, and then talk to the guards on the observation deck.  Speak with the guard in the missile bay, then return.  Go to the Circuit room and tell the guard you are here to inspect the room.  Beat up the control panel and leave.  Go to the missile bay and help move the missiles into place.  Go out to the control panel and set the error ratio to maximum level then upload the data and exit.  Go into the Control room and defeat the boss.  Disable the control panels in here as well, and then set the self-destruct program.  Set it to 10 minutes, it’s all you need.  Exit through the back door, and then leave the base.  Out in the yard, you will have to fight the BGH251F2.  This is not a hard fight at all.  Just summon Quezacotl and use your strongest GF’s and physical attacks and it will explode in due time.  The base will explode shortly after, but the group takes shelter in the BGH251F2.  You will now be in control of Squall’s party.

 

AREA: BALAMB GARDEN

SAVE POINTS: Squall’s room, Training Center, and MD level

DRAW POINTS: Same as before, and Full-Life: MD level

 

When you return, you will have to battle monsters in every wing of the garden.  They are all easy, so take them all out.  After you defeat all of them, go to the second floor and find Xu.  She will take you to see Cid.  Cid sends you into the depths of the garden to find a way to avoid the missiles. Junction fire elements to your attacks to defeat enemies in lower levels.  Take the elevator to the MD level.  Follow the paths until you get to the ladder on the column in the middle of the room and climb it with just Squall.  Turn on the computer inside the room, and then climb back down.  Active the lift near the ladder and ride it down.  Save your game here, then active the control near the save point to open the doors ahead.  As you approach the door, 2 Oilboyles will attack you.  This is where the fire junction will help out.  Summon Ifrit and use physical attacks to defeat them, and then continue down the ladder ahead.  Mess with the controls to activate the garden’s secret; it is mobile!  The garden will move out of the way of the missiles, then crash into the ocean.  Go out to the 2nd floor deck and observe the FMV, then visit Cid in his office.  When you wake up, go to the Basement to find Cid calling someone a “son of a bitch”.  You will be forced to fight NORG.  Once the battle begins, draw Leviathan from him, and then attack the left and right pods when they turn red to keep them from casting magic.  When NORG has taken enough damage, his armor will come off, then you can really start doing some damage.  After the fight, go to the Doctor’s office and talk with Cid. Find Xu near the directory, then go to the 2nd floor deck and talk to the White SeeDs.  You will have to find Ellone.  She is in the library in the back.  When you find her, she will leave with the White SeeDs.

 

AREA: FISHERMAN’S HORIZON, FH

SAVE POINTS: Train tracks

DRAW POINTS: Full life: crane, Regen: train tracks, Shell: junk shop, Haste: train station, Ultima: mayor’s house

CARDS: Quezacotl: mayor, and Seifer: Cid

When you arrive, head down to the Mayor’s house to apologize for the incident.  On the way back up, the city is attacked.  Follow the tracks to the station in the back and find the mayor getting kick around.  Jump in and help, then you will have to fight the BGH251F2 again.  This time it’s really weak, however you need to mug it for some adamantine.  After the battle, you will be rejoined with the rest of the gang.  Go back to the garden.  After everything is settled, go to the Quad and talk to Selphie.  After Irvin takes over, head up to the office and speak with Cid.  Head down to the Mayor’s house and play out the next scenes.  After all is done, you will need to pilot the Garden to Balamb and park around the city and then enter.

 

AREA: BALAMB

SAVE POINTS: Zell’s room

DRAW POINTS: Cure: docks, Thunder: next to bench

CARDS: Zell: Zell’s mom

BOOKS: See Side Quests

 

Get past the guards and go to Zell’s house to speak with his mom.  Head over to the hotel and speak with the guards, then go find the captain.  Follow all the clues until you find Rajin at the hotel entrance and fight him.  Rajin is strong, so draw and cast protect on you party.  Mug him for some Str Ups, and then take him out with physical attacks.  Enter the hotel to fight him and Fujin.  Do the same again, including mugging Rajin, and draw Pandemona from Fujin.  Summon your strongest GF’s and just hack away.  You might want to take Rajin out first since he can cause more damage.  After the fight, you have an emotional chat, and then they leave.  Board the garden and head north to Trabia and locate Trabia Garden.

 

AREA: TRABIA

SAVE POINTS: Classroom

DRAW POINTS: Aura: stage, Zombie: grave, Thundaga: statue

CARDS: Selphie: girl near statue

BOOKS: See Side Quests

 

When you find Trabia garden, it’s in ruins where is has been hit by the missiles.  Climb the wall to get in.  Talk to Selphie and she will tell you to meet here at the Basketball court in the back; do so.  You will be reminiscing about the days when you were in the orphanage, and it turns out you were all from the same one.  Play the rest of the scenes through, then head north to Edea’s house.  When you get there, you see Galbadia garden in the forest.  Pilot the garden towards it to initiate the battle.  When you do, you will have to form a party to head to the quad and go there.  When Rinoa get into trouble, go back to tell Squall.  Locate him at the front gate, and he will go after her.  Defeat the soldiers in the classroom, then head to the bridge. After the speech, go to the second floor observation deck to battle the paratrooper.  Choose “look for another option”, then “press the emergency exit”.  During the fight, use the kick button to gain a bit of charge, and then block.  When the Deathblow option becomes available, choose it to finish off the soldier, and then rescue Rinoa.  You will land on Galbadia’s garden, just run to the left to avoid the battles. 

 

AREA: GALBADIA GARDEN

SAVE POINTS: Entrance, Hall up, Hall down, Master room

DRAW POINTS: Aura: outside by tree, Protect: ice rink, Life: locker room, Shell: basketball court, Haste: center room

 

When you enter, choose your party, and then save.  Make your way up to the second floor to find the 1st card key, then go back down to the 1st floor and enter the hockey arena.  On the other side of the arena you will find the 2nd card key.  You will need to go to the main hall.  On the left is where you will find the 3rd card key, get it.  In the main hall, you will see a monster.  This is Cerberus, a GF.  Start the fight and mug him for a Spd J scroll, and cast dispel on him when he uses triple on himself.  This battle is easy as long as you do that.  Once you beat him, he will join you.  When you are done, head upstairs and enter the elevator to the left.  In this room you will fight Seifer.  When you win, she will disappear to the auditorium.  Save the game, then head out the door at the end of the hallway and follow it around to the auditorium to face the Sorceress.  When the battle starts, Seifer will show up again, but he’s wounded, finish him off to fight her.  Draw the Alexander GF from here first, the use your strongest GF’s and pound away.  When the battle is over, Edea’s trance is broken, and then Rinoa falls into a coma.

NOTE: You should catch up on any Side Quests you haven’t completed yet.  Once you are finished with Disk 3, you won’t be able to take part in them. When you obtain the Ragnarok, you can complete them more efficiently if you wish to wait until then.  Please refer to the Side Quest link on the Homepage for more information on them.

 

AREA: EDEA’S HOUSE

CARDS: Edea; Edea

 

Stop by and visit Edea.  When you talk to her, she will explain about the sorceress and her plans. Go back to the garden, and then to the infirmary to visit Rinoa.  When you do, you’ll fall asleep and then you will be in control over Laguna.  Play out the scenes with the dragon, and then go down the path.  Choose “not ready yet” and go back and save.  Junction you elements to protect against fire, and then head over to fight the Red Dragon.  Fight the Red Dragon using Shiva and Alexander and it will end soon enough.  When it’s over, you will be in control of Squall again. Go back to Edea’s house and get a letter from her to give to the White SeeDs.  Leave and toward the Centra continent.  The ship is hiding around the islands that look like “fingers”.  Once you find the ship, go aboard and talk with Zone and Watts, then go below.  Talk with the leader to catch up on things, and then find Zone in the lookout.  Give him the Girl next-door magazine, and he will give you the Shiva card.  Leave and go back to the infirmary.   The group will decide to go to Esthar.  You will need to go to FH, and then take the train tracks over to it.  When you get to the world map, walk up to the lake to enter the Great Salt Lake.  Choose your party, and then make your way through.  When you get to a large open space, you will have to battle Abadon.  This monster is undead, so cast Cure spells on him to do damage.  If you want to get it over quickly, cast full life on it.  When the battle is over, follow the path to an area that looks to be a dead end.  You will notice strange flickering in the sky, then you see what looks to be a ladder, climb it.  You will enter a new area; just follow it until you reach the elevator.  Ride the elevator to the bottom where you once again will pass out.  You will be in control of Laguna.

 

AREA: ESTHAR

When you are in control of Laguna, talk with the guards and the prisoners until you go upstairs.  Listen to the Dr., and then go back downstairs to find him.  Leave the lab, and speak with the people outside.  You will get a ride to Odine’s lab where you need to find Ellone.  Take the lift up to the top and unlock the door to Ellone’s room, then go get her.  Squall and the gang will be in the presidential palace with Dr. Odine.  He will tell you that you need to go to space.  Visit the shopping malls, and then rent a car and head to Lunar gate.  Inside, you will be escorted to the launching room.  You will need to pick someone to go with you, and it doesn’t matter whom.  I chose Quistis.  When you are in control of Zell, go back to Esthar, and visit Odine’s lab to learn about Lunatic Pandora.  Look at the map, and then go to the point where it will pass.  The first point is the easiest to find.  From the lab, head right, then up, and then take the steps on the left.  Inside Lunatic Pandora is easy.  It doesn’t matter which way you go because you end up getting kicked out by a machine.  You will now be back to Squall.

 

AREA: LUNAR BASE

When you get to the Lunar base, Rinoa will be placed in the Medical lab. Save the game, then head to the control center.  Talk with Piet, then head to the 2nd floor and find Ellone.  After you find Ellone, head back to the Med lab to find out what’s wrong with Rinoa.  You can’t touch her, so go back to the control center and watch the mayhem.  Head up to the locker room and put on the space suit and try to follow.  You won’t be able to so go back to the control center and exit the base.  When inside the escape pod, you will talk to Ellone, and then you will leave to rescue Rinoa.  At first, she is hard to see, just a small dot.  Keep her lined up, and use your booster by pressing the square button.  When you reach her, you will stumble across a ship; the Ragnarok! 

 

AREA: RAGNAROK

SAVE POINTS: Entrance, and hanger

DRAW POINTS: Life: catwalk, Cura: aisle, and Full Life: corridor downstairs

 

Inside the Ragnarok, you will have to fight the Propagators.  The trick to killing them is to do so by killing them in pairs.  There are eight total if four pairs.  Once you kill one color, don’t kill anymore until you dispose of it’s counterpart or it will heal the previously slain one.  They aren’t hard to beat at all though.  Kill them in this order:  Purple, Red, Yellow, and then Green.  Head up to the bridge when done, and pilot the Ragnarok back to earth.  Once you land, Esthar officials come and take Rinoa away.  Head back into the ship and go to the passenger deck.  Once the gang is there, return to the bridge and Selphie will pilot the Ragnarok.  You now have a ship to travel in.  Go to the Sorceress Memorial and rescue Rinoa with a little help from an old friend.  After you free Rinoa, head back to Edea’s house and visit the Flower Field.  Does it look familiar?  It should, it’s the same from the intro to the game!  Go back to Esthar, and head to the presidential palace.  You can now land the ship at the air station.  Speak with the president who is none other than Laguna!  You can now win the Squall card from him when you want.  Fly the Ragnarok to Tear’s point where Lunatic Pandora is. 

 

AREA: LUNATIC PANDORA

When you arrive at Lunatic Pandora, you will run into Biggs and Wedge again.  This time they don’t want to fight, however, Rajin and Fujin will.  This time around they are tough, but doable.  You should again mug them for the goodies, the use the best GF’s and limit breaks when you get them.  After the battle, they will leave, and hope you can straighten out Seifer for them.  Make your way to the elevator, and then take it up.   All paths intertwine, so you choose the route to take.  When you get to the hallway, you will have to fight Mobile Type 8.  The only real threat in this fight is the bosses’ ability to use the Corona attack.  This will take each member down to 1 HP, so quickly heal everyone before it finishes you off.  Summon your strongest GF’s, and especially Eden, and this boss with fall easily.  After the battle, cure everyone to the max, because Seifer is next in line.  This time Seifer is much stronger, but still not hard to defeat.  When the battle starts, stock up on Aura, this is a great magic as it allows you to get your limit break without being in the low HP range.  If you obtained Odin earlier, and you should have, he will show up, but Seifer will kill him, but Gilgamesh will show up and take his place.  After you beat Seifer, you will need to go back to the place where you fought Mobile Type 8.  Climb the ledge above and head over to face your next opponent; Adel.  When this battle starts, Adel will be junctioned with Rinoa.  You have to keep her alive during this fight.  Case Regen on Rinoa, and then hit Adel with physical attacks.  She isn’t hard to beat, however she will absorb Rinoa’s HP when she is low, and when she does, heal Rinoa.  After the fight, you will see some FMV, then you will be prompted for the final disk.

WALKTHROUGH

 

When you start the final disk, you will have to fight a bunch of Sorceresses.  None of them pose a real threat except maybe the final one.  She can use some strong spells, including Ultima, but she’s really not that strong.  When you are done with the battles, you will need to go through the middle portal, which will take you to the Centra plains.  Equip the Enc-none ability, then walk northwest until you find the chocobo forest.  Get a chocobo, then backtrack.  Go south until you come across a beach, cross it and you will be close to Edea’s house.  From there, head east along the mountains until you see a small opening,  go through and you will be in the desert, and you can now board the Ragnarok.  Near the Ragnarok is a portal.  This portal will take you to Ultemica’s castle.  When you are ready, enter it.  When you enter the castle, all you’re abilities are sealed off.  All you can do is fight.  You will need to defeat certain bosses to unlock them.  The first boss is Sphinxaur.  This boss is not hard, so you should have no trouble with it.  After the fight, you should unlock the Magic ability.  Go through the door in the foyer and walk on the chandelier to make it fall.  When it does, it will reveal a hidden room, go there to fight Tri-Point.  Again, this fight is easy, and you should have no trouble with it.  When you win, you should unlock the GF command.  Switch parties, and have the 2nd party follow the same path and walk on the chandelier to crash.  To the right, you will see a Green circle by a lever.  The 2nd party will need to stand on the circle, then hit the lever.  Switch back to the main party, then go up the stairs and cross the chandelier to the other side to fight Krysta.  Krysta isn’t hard either, but it has very good defense, so you will need to summon Doomtrain, or cast meltdown.  Once you win the fight, you should unlock the Item command.  Go out the right door in the foyer and continue until you find the art gallery.  You have to inspect all paintings in the room.  You have to discover the name of the large painting by figuring out the clues in the others.  The answer is “Garden Sleeps a Messenger”.  When you solve the puzzle, you will have to fight Trauma.  Trauma is powerful, and can cast some strong magic.  You should cast meltdown, or summon Doomtrain to weaken him, then summon Eden, and Bahamut.  You should now unlock the Resurrection ability.  After the battle, head through the gallery into the dungeon. Go into the left door and enter the cell.  You will be locked in.  There is a corpse in the cell, and there is a key in its hand, take it and exit the cell to begin a battle with a Red Giant.  This is much like an Iron Giant, except stronger.  Summon Doomtrain to blind him, which will severely limit his attack options.  When it’s blinded, just finish him off with a couple GF’s and regular attacks.   You should now unlock the Command ability.  Head back to the foyer and go out the bottom left door.  You will now be in a room that is shaking.  You will have to walk, not run into the room and pick up the key in the middle. If it falls, go back to the dungeon, and examine the water trough next to the door and you will find the Armory key.  In the back of the Armory, you will have to fight Gargantua.  Before the fight, junction berserk to your defense to protect you from the spell.  This boss will counter attack any physical contact, so summon Doomtrain and Eden.  He won’t hold out too long.  After the fight, unlock the Save command.  You should not go outside the foyer and save, then head out to the small area outside the chapel.  Search the fountain to find the Vault key.  Enter the top left room in the foyer, and take the door on the left in the hallway that’s tilted.  Inside the Treasure Vault, you have to solve a puzzle with treasure boxes.  First, shut box 1, then box 4, and then box 2 followed by box 4.  This will cause Catoblepas to appear in the room.  Junction Thunder magic to your defense, and water to your offense.  With this set up, you should have no trouble with it.  He has a lot of HP, but you will be immune to many of its attacks.  Summon Doomtrain, then attack.  After the battle, unlock the Limit Break ability.  Next, you will need to climb the clock tower and look for a swinging bell at the top.  Stand close to it, and when the time is right, hit the x button to jump on and hitch a ride to the small ledge.  Here, you will have to fight a former GF, Tiamat.  Tiamat only uses one attack: Dark Flare.  It is strong, but you should have a lot of time to prepare for the spell.  Summon Doomtrain as always,  and Eden when you can.  Just keep an eye on the parties HP and you should be fine.  After the battle, unlock the Draw command.  That’s it, you are now free to take on Ultemica and end the game.  What?  You want to fight the Omega weapon?  Are you crazy?  Yes, I am.  Ok. Here is how to find him.

 

OMEGA WEAPON (OPTIONAL)

Take your main party to the 2nd switch point close to the fountain.  Take the 2nd party through the top right hand door in the foyer.  In the next room, there is a bell, when you ring the bell a timer will appear on the screen.  Haul ass to the fountain and stand on the switch point.  (Note:  It helps to have the Enc-None ability, just make sure to change it before you begin the battle with Omega, you don’t want to waste the slot for more useful abilities)  Switch back to the 1st party and run up to the organ in the chapel to find the Omega weapon ready to annihilate you!  Before you begin, do this.  Set the revive and recover to two different members.  Transform the Gilgamesh card into 10 Holy Wars, and the Bahamut card into 100 mega elixirs.  Junction Death to your status defense.  Set your abilities with all the Speed boosters you have.  Set at least 2 members with the Item command to use the mega elixirs, and all 3 with the GF command.  The designated healer shouldn’t even need the attack command, so use the Item, GF, Revive, and Magic commands.  Now, say a little prayer, then go for it!

When the battle begins, immediately summon Doomtrain and Cerberus.  Doomtrain will cut its defenses, and you will need the triple magic.  Have the next member cast Triple Aura, and the next to cast Haste.  When Squall gets his turn, use his limit break.  Hopefully you have his Lion Heart sword to inflict major damage.  Next in line summon Eden.  After the Aura spell expires, have someone cast it again, then the next person use a Holy War.  Holy Wars block magic, so cast Aura first.  While the Holy War is in place, Omega can’t touch you, so pound away with limit breaks.  When the Holy War expires, repeat the above method.  After an insane amount of time, you will come out on top.  After the battle, you get a measly Three Stars.  However, you will get a “Proof of Omega” seal in the tutorial menu for proof of your crazy, yet heroic efforts.  Congratulations, you just beat the strongest boss in the game!

 

Now, all that’s left is to finish the game.  Ultemica is just past the Clock Tower.  This final battle will take a while.  You have to fight many different forms of her, and if a person dies, another member will replace them.  If you beat Omega, then this battle will seem pale in comparison, and if not, the strategy is pretty much the same, so check it out above.  Once you take Ultemica down, you will get a long, interesting FMV ending.  I won’t spoil it, you have to see it for yourself! 

 

Congratulations, you just finished one of the greatest games ever to grace any console!  Enjoy the ending!
