This is just one of several old plantation homes in
the country around where Hunter lives. Before the
Civil War the wealthy farmers would build these
magnificent homes overseeing thier lands. Living
there in comfort as thier slaves worked and
struggled in the fields.
Before the Civil War most Southern farms were
dependant on thier slave labor. These small, one
room houses are an example of where the slaves who
kept the plantations prospering lived thier daily
lives. They are far different from the magestic
Manor home just across the road. As different as
the people who lived in them.
This is a modern farm in Virgina. Gone are the Big
homes of the Wealthy Platations. Most of the
farmers today are hard working, honest people.
Making a living for themselves and thier families
off the land. It's some of the most beautiful
country in the world and something to be treasured.
