Favorite Artists: "I have many many more favorite artists than listed below. I have too many, in fact, and they are constantly increasing. Anyhow, here are some..."
Freddie Mercury (Queen), Yutaka Ozaki, Bjork, Janet Jackson, Minnie Riperton, Slash (Guns 'n' Roses), Joe, Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, Craig David, Garbage, No Doubt, GLAY, Guru, Enigma, Blink182, Miles Davis, Mozart, Blue Man Group, At the Drive-in, Erykah Badu, Jimi Hendrix, Bela Bartok, Edith Piaf.

Things Hooked on Recently: *Hoop-shaped pierced earrings (again) and accessories with silver and gold mixed, though I used to focus on silver only before (does that mean that I've grown a bit?)
*Stimulant seasonings such as tabasco, sesame oil with chili peppers, vinegar and wasabi.
*I'm into long baths lately. Throughout the world, whether at home in New York, in Japan or in a hotel in Europe, I'm indebted to Japan's famous hot spring bath powder from Tsumura. My father said he likes it, too. Don't you think I have fairly composed daily schedule, though my looks may be quite far out....
*It's a fairly recent thing but I've become very fond of making drinks myself. I bought an espresso maker and coffee maker and make them myself every day. I also discovered a cute teacup set at DKNY and I make Japanese tea often and drink it. I squeeze oranges every morning to make juice... Are these things so common that everybody does them? For me who doesn't cook, it's great progress!

Favorite Words:kinomi kinomama (with only the clothes one happens to be wearing)

"Instead of tug o'war, let's play hug o' war" - Shel Silverstein
"Turn a negative into a positive picture" - Lauryn Hill

Hikki has alwayas had music in her life; her mother was a famous 70's enka singer (Keiko Fuji), and her dad is a music producer/musician who now runs her management company (Teruzane Utada). She began singing/recording at a very young age, I believe at 7, and I think recorded her first actual song at 12 under "Cubic U". Also, Hikki is EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT, straight-A I believe, and can speak perfect English due to all the time spent in the USA. She studies at Columbia University in New York (her birthplace) and puts education before her career. She even took a break from her career for almost over a year to continue her studies! Hikki is also a great role model in that she is down to earth and doesn't let fandom affect her. She even plans to retire early, as early as 28, to pursure maybe neuroscience. This really shows how she isn't glued to the title "diva", though she is Japan's biggest pop star. Both her albums have broken records for selling the highest number of copies in Japan, and her popularity is rapidly increasing day by day. Under her alias, Cubic U, she has even released an album in the US and other countries outside of Japan. Her style of music is not your ordinary teeny-bopper pop music. Because of her exposure to rock, rap and r&b, her music, which she mostly writes herself, combines these melodies into beautiful songs. Her lyrics are very unique and express her own spirit.

As Hikki starts to establish a career not only in Japan but also in the US, you won't be surprised hearing about her here and there in magazines. Not surprisingly, her song, "Blow My Whistle" featuring Foxy Brown, was included in the recent Rush Hour 2 soundtrack. And here omes more. Just recently, in the Fall 2001 special issue of TIME magazine (yes TIME), Hikki was featured on the cover along with many famous worldwide singers. The issue, title "Music Goes Global" featured a 2-page article/picture spread about none other than Hikaru. Hikaru Utada is probably my favorite singer worldwide, including the US. She is just so awesome =P (Ask any one of my freinds)! I really admire her and everything she does and stands for. I know she has everything it takes!
