NOTE: Ordinarily, Anguish's powers remain at 10 intensity. Around unfortunate events (funerals, for example) and on other occasions (fights, riots, divorce proceedings, etc.), her Darkforce Control increases above 10 (maximum 17), reflecting the large amount of negative emotional energy. Alternately, positive emotional energy reduces her Darkforce Control (min 1). A reduction may also occur if there are no emotions to convert, such as in the void of space. The Narrator should decided the level at which Rose's Darkforce Control operates.

Rose is Joy Schuester's (aka Bliss's) long-lost, younger sister. Their parents had to put Rose up for adoption when she was very young because they could not afford another child. Rose has been shipped from orphanages to foster families to juvenile detention facilities all her life. She survived by learning how to make others do her bidding. She also developed her power in her adolescence, using them to defend herself.

When she was old enough to get her own job, she left. Codenaming herself Anguish, Rose set out to get revenge on those who had treated her badly. She came back a month later and destroyed the orphanage where she had stayed. She attacked the Long Island Juvenile Correction Facility, where she ran afoul of Speedball, before he formed the new New Warriors. Anguish escaped. Next, she stopped at town hall, learning the names of her true family. As the tears of frustration and anger clouded her vision, she set out to make them pay.
