Removing the "Guide" Menu Item in Netscape Communicator's Bookmark Menu

(Does anyone really use this in Netscape?)

Here’s what you need to do to remove that Guide menu folder in Bookmarks for Netscape:

1. Make a copy of your Netscape Communicator application file.

2. Open this copy in ResEdit or Resorcerer.

3. Go to the MENU Resource and open it.

4. Locate Resource 304 “Common Bookmarks” there.

5. Open it, in the list you will see a couple of items, a divider, the Guide item, and another divider.

6. Select/Highlight the Guide item, and the divider below it, and delete them.

7. That’s it! Save the file, stuff a backup of the original Communicator file and leave it right in the same place, and rename your altered file to the original’s name, and launch. No more stupid Guide menu cluttering your bookmarks menu :-)

Cheers from SuperMatt
