Game Review
Hesperia Christian forayed into the Los Angeles Basin for a game with Div IVA New Roads (3-6) of Santa Monica but could not overcome the old school John Wooden full court press and their own multitude of turnovers (26) and came away with a 73-56 loss. The Jaguars pressed all game and wore the Patriots down. HCS big men could not suppress New Roads' inside game. The Patriot three point shooters shot a miserable 15% while the team as a whole shot 35% FG percentage. The Jaguars had balanced scoring with all players scoring and three New Roads players in double digits. The Patriots had moments of sharp crisp play with solid passes and smart moves. This was followed by long periods of time with sloppy play. HCS seemed still down and lackluster from their loss on Saturday night. New Roads indicated the heart to win tonight, out hustling HCS for every loose ball. New Roads just outrebounded HCS, the taller team tonight. If there was a bright spot in the game it was HCS' phenomenal shooting from the charity line. HCS shot 80% from the line. HCS also won the fourth quarter 21-15. Junior Mike Petersen led all scorers with 13 points. HCS is now 3-2 and enters the Hesperia High School Christmas Tournament on Wednesday against Ganesha High School.

Game Preview
Hesperia Christian meets New Roads at 7 pm at the Veterans Memorial in Culver City. This is the first ever meeting between these two schools. It is the first time HCS has played in LA since meeting Westview in playoffs three years ago. HCS (3-1) is coming off a loss to their arch rival Apple Valley Christian while New Roads (3-6) is playing their first year as a Div IVA school. Last year New Roads made it to semifinals after being ranked #3 all season on most Div VAA polls. They lost much of their team to graduation but still have a potent team.
HCS has got to use this game to get back on track with what makes them successful. They must dominate the boards and increase their FG percentage. And as always make free throws. Only Lorne Barton is doubtful for this game.
