PROMOTING A DIFFERENT RESULT

"If you always do the same thing, you can always expect the same result". Those of us who knew Richard Zarro either as students, clients or knew him personally can still hear those words ring in our ears. How true! Something has to change in order to accomplish communication when it appears the attempts to communicate had broken down.

 

I had this message of the need to change what was being done again brought home recently through events at my credit union.  There had been a shifting around of management personnel.  The branch where I usually did my business had a new manager.  I wanted at our first face to face meeting something done and kept repeating the same words over again without changing my perspective or attempting to figure out what was going wrong.  He kept telling me that what I wanted was "not possible". I "knew" it was. We kept going around and around and got no where. Neither of us made any effort to change what we were saying or doing. While he remained friendly with this obviously very stubborn person, he continued as he had been doing. Needless to say, the meeting/transactions ended in a stalemate. It took the intervention of a third party (yes it was his supervisor, who I personally knew as she had helped me through some rough times). Within a couple of days of my insisting she had to be involved, I realized what was wrong. Much to my chagrin, I called someone in adminnistration at Headquarters to relay the message that the real problem was that the branch manager had been so intent on what he was saying and so was I that neither of us thought to make even the slightest change.



So why is this article posted behind the Hypnosis thumbnail rather than one of the other thumbnails?

The above referenced quote and tool became known to most people through the Holographic Hypnosis® (which Richard developed, taught and lived) training . It teaches a lesson in communication, which as discussed earlier behind this thumbnail as part of the "isms", all communication is hypnosis. 

 

As such, Holographic Hypnosis is a way of life. It's an effective means to achieve one's goals and to understand why you sometimes do not get what you believe you want and/or need.

In the above quote from Richard with which we began this article, it is obvious that something must change if there is to be effective communication, contact or reach another human being with the intent of effective communication if what is being done does not work!

 

Since no one can really control another person (without permission being granted), the change has to come from the person desiring or needing to communicate something to someone else. (Yes, this even includes your own self-talk, i.e. that constantly occurring internal chatter which takes practice by most if we wish to still it. This internal dialogue is used as we make decisions, review life's events, etc.)

There are many means to influence others some of which are already posted on this website and some of which will be explored in future articles on this site. Behind the communication thumbnail, for example, you will find the tool of matching the others primary sensory mode. For example, If you are primarily visual with words that talk about seeing and the other person talks mainly about feelings, they are kinesthetic and you need to match their speech patterns by switching to talking about feeling type of words. You can change your perspective and communicate from this slightly (and I mean only a small change) different perspective.

This article is just an example of many changes to choose from. One thing you can do is if you are sitting down, you can stand up. Just change what you were doing, ever so slightly.
Try this technique of change to transform your communication and watch your efforts blossom!
