Welcome! My name is Maria Richard and I would love to talk to you about AAU Basketball. AAU stands for Amateur Athletic Union. It is much more competitive than regular highschool basketball because the girls playing it are usually really good athletes and are out there because they want to have a future in basketball. College scouts are getting to where they go watch more AAU games than they do highschool games because if they go to a highschool game, they get to see maybe one great player whereas if they watch an AAU game, they can see two teams of really great players. A great site for people interested in AAU is AAU Girls Basketball. I myself play on an AAU basketball team called Bama's Best. My Dad coaches it and we have 9 players. They are:
We have played in 2 tournaments so far and have done pretty well. The best thing about AAU basketball is that it brings people together from different places all over the county such as:

  2. Good Hope
  3. West Point
  4. Cullman
  5. Brewer

"Basketball is Life"

Basketball is a wonderful sport and it opens up a lot of windows of possibilities. In basketball, you meet all kinds of new people and make new friends. It is very good to be involved in some kind of sport no matter what it is. If offers scholarships for people who are good enough and it is also a great way to relieve stress after a long day.




"Be on Target"

 I know how I have stressed how much everyone should be involved in some kind of sport, but basketball is nothing to 'just fool around with.' I'm not saying you have to be the next Micheal Jordan, but what I am saying is that you have to be willing to work to be any good at anything you do.
