Summary:
Takes place during the Ming Dynasty during the reign of Emperor Zong Zhen(Moses Chan) and his beloved Empress Zhou(Maggie Siu).Charmaine(Cheung Ping)and Sonija(Chou Yun)are princesses and the daughter of Maggie.Charmaine and Steven(Zhou Siy Heen)have loved each other since they were little.However,the evil Jay Lau(Tin Fei)accused Maggie of killing her newborn child.So Maggie,Charmaine and Sonija are sent out to live in the common world thus splitting up two lovers.(charmaine and Steven).
However,fate does have its ways.One day,Charmaine goes overseas to work at a cannon producing factor.Along, the way he meets Michael Tong(Cho Sing Hing)the owner of that factory's son.He falls in love with Charmaine.When Charmaine goes to work at the factory he reunites with Steven.But,she cannot tell him her identity or she will put the family into risk.However,later on,Steven finds out she is Cheung Ping and they reunite after 10 years.
Later,Maggie and her daughters are sent back to court.So Charmaine and Steven are split up again.But,because Steven and Michael saved a bunch of people by pushing away the cannons.So Moses sends to them to court and as a reward makes them teachers for the princesses/princes.So,Charmaine and Steven share this love in court with each other but cannot express it.That is because Steven is also engaged to Annie Man(the daughter of a general).Annie loves Steven a lot and Charmaine cannot bear for her to get hurt.Soon,Jay accidently kills Annie.Sonija witnesses this but accuses Charmaine of the crime.
Moses also arranges this "competition" kind of thing for Charmaine to choose a husband.But,in his mind,Moses has already chosen a skilled general.Steven doesnt want her to marry him so decides to join as well eventhough the chances are low.But,Moses is impressed by him and chooses him to be Charmaine's husband.
But, the empire is unstable and wars rage on.Steven is sent to fight and they are split up once again...In the end will they finally marry?
My Opinion

Actresses:I LUV charmaine now! She is actually a really good actress, very pretty in ancient and very convincing as Cheung Ping.BUT,i HATE sonija kwok.I know itz just a character and u guys probably think im crazy.But,her face is SO annoying,makes u wanna slap it.(sry to sonija lovers)She is convincing as villians though,face looks very evil.Sry bout my outburst but juss tryin to b critical.
Actors:This is very mite get lengthy.I juss saw the promo clip w/ Chilam.Hafta admit no better Zhou Siy Heen than STEVEN MA!However,i dont like his clothes sometimes.His hat thingy makes his eyes look really small and his clothes make him look fat sometimes.Moses Chan was another disappointment.I like his acting but TVB producers are so weird.Moses is only early 30s and the emporer is supposed to be 40/50!Just putting a moustache on him doesnt make him look THAT old.
Couple:Loved Charmaine and Steven.They look SO cute together,on my "perfect couple" list under ada and steven!:-)
Storyline:ok here comes the big bad one.I never watched the original perish in the name of love but according to my mom TVB producers changed it.She said that they exagerrated the part of Princess Chou Yun being that bad and evil.Also,lengthed the war parts and stuff.To be honest,sometimes the series did get boring(but probably cuz im not big fan of that political stuff)
In Conclusion:Wow,this is the longest review i have ever written.But,since PITNOL is my new fav series itz ok.Just sum last words:I dunt understand y so low ratings in H.K?
