When I first read your words asking "What Did I Do",
Memories had rushed to my heart,
I had thought of myself cowering in fear,
Awaiting for the beating to start.

Then my eyes fell upon "Lost Innocence",
Which caused anger to erupt from within,
Followed by deep feelings of sadness,
Knowing you had been offered in sin.

Your cries for protection went unheeded,
Betrayed when you should have been saved,
The scars and bruises you live with,
Still simmer within you this day.

When this childhood life you did leave behind,
Venturing forth to begin a new life,
Your goals were set on happiness,
Future dreams of becoming a wife.

Overcome with a need to be wanted and loved,
You gave all your soul had to give,
Only to find yourself driven back,
To a world you could no longer live.

Courageously you have opened your heart,
Allowing others to see in your home
The love and hope you have offered,
For those who are suffering alone.

The strength and determination you show,
From a heart overflowing with love,
Have prevented man from destroying you,
For God walks with you from above.

Compassion and caring I see in your eyes,
Overflowing in the words that you write,
For me you have captured a love and a friend,
You stand proudly and tall in my sight.
