The Westinghouse DC-17 Super Bulb was an increased efficency incandescent lamp with krypton fill gas These bulbs were fitted with brass bases from its introduction into the early 1980s, then Westinghouse switched to the aluminum base in 1982. I have memories of these bulbs from my childhood and I was intrigued by the brass bases on a soft white bulb. They were also long lasting bulbs rated at 3000 hours. That is equal to at least 2 years in household use! This Superbulb has a supported CC-8 filament, those made in the early 1980s had unsupported filaments. After 1983 the Super Bulb was no more, probably as a result of Philips' buyout. Today they are hard to find!

This Superbulb is in used condition but still works! The insides are hard to see due to the narrow clear band in the glass near the base, but I can see the numbers on the stem press (date and factory code, etc), circa 1978.
