The neodymium lamp is made of glass that contain neodymium oxide, which causes the charactistic purplish hue in the glass. This raises the color temperature from 2700K (ordinary incandescent) to 3500-4000K, and permits a whiter light which makes colors quite vibrant. These lamps are the closest to natural daylight, actually, and are much better than the "daylight blue" incandescent lamps, which actually has pretty poor color rendition. Previously, neodymium lamps only came from either Japan or Europe, but production has since spreaded into the USA and other parts of the world. This one is a hard to find Aero-Tech 150 watt A-21 lamp manfactured here in the USA and has a vibration resistant multi-support filament. In addition to 5000 hour versions, Aero-Tech also offers 20,000 hour versions of the same basic lamp.
