Central Search Dogs

Shortly after Tiffany came into my life, we discovered Central Search Dogs and life hasn't been the same since! As the name implies, Central Search Dogs is committed to training search dogs and providing search dog capability for central New Zealand (From Taupo to Wellington).

Search and Rescue isn't a hobby, it's a lifestyle. It transformed me from a timid, sedentary nerd to a confident, active, mountain-climbing superwoman! Okay - not quite. I still quake at the thought of top rungs; I'm definitely the slowest in the team on a rubble pile; and I guess I will always be a nerd...
But with training 3-4 times per week in all weather, and gym every other day (to reach the strength and fitness required), I'm a lot fitter than I used to be and I'm learning skills I had never dreamed of.

On top of this, we have come to know some really fantastic dogs and their people, some of whom are pictured here. (Tiffany is looking slightly embarrassed because her inept mother - me - put her SAR vest on backwards!)

Tiffany took to SAR training from our very first day. She loves it and so do I. But if any visitor to this site is considering SAR training, it needs to be stressed that SAR dog training takes a lot of time, a lot of work, and, above all, commitment.
