IN MEMORY
OF OUR BELOVED GRANDSON

~PEE-WEE DEDICATION~

PEE~WEE BASEBALL DEDICATION
IN MEMORY OF LEE
APRIL 17, 2000

We want to welcome everyone to our first Pee-Wee game of the year 2000, between the Cardinals and the Cubs.  We would like to begin by giving a special thanks to all the parents, grandparents, coaches and everyone else for displaying such patience and support in getting this new season underway with such great success.  We hope this season will be another fun-filled season as we watch these children have fun and develop while playing the game of baseball.  We are looking forward to the joy that these children will be giving us that will be cherished by us all.
Before we start our first game tonight, we want to remember one of our kids who brought such joy and pleasure to us all during his first and only year that he played Pee-Wee baseball.  #3 Lee Morris Gossett, who played for the Cardinals last year, will be greatly missed by us all.  We will go on with this new season, but we will not forget Little #3 Lee Gossett, who’s presence and smiling face alone brought us all great joy and laughter.  We are dedicating this season to him by retiring his jersey and #3 that has been framed and given to the family of Lee Gossett in memory of him.  Lee’s #3 will be worn on the sleeve of his teammates this year to help us all keep his memory alive throughout the season.  At this time Pee-Wee commissioner, David Krantz, will present this dedication to Lee’s mom and dad, Amy and Dave Gardner.

~CENTERFIELD~
~John Foggerty~

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone -
the sun came out today!
We're born again,
there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home,
it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way I feel.

Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.

Well, I spent some time in the Mudville Nine,
watchin' it from the bench;
You know I took some lumps
when the Mighty Casey struck out.
So Say Hey Willie, tell Ty Cobb and Joe DiMaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.

Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.

Yeah! I got it, I got it!

Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat,
and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all -
a moment in the sun;
It's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Oh, put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Put me in, Coach - I'm ready to play today;
Look at me, I can be Centerfield.

Yeah!
