Forever Happy

Forever Happy
By, Katie

It’s the day of our wedding. The most important day of our lives. Right now, it’s about three hours until we slip the rings on our fingers. I can hardly wait. I think of all of the other people who have had pretty bad lives then I think of me, I feel guilty and very blessed at the same time. Here I am, on cloud 9 because I’m marrying the love of my life and all of my dreams are coming true.

I’m sitting in our room getting my hair and make up done. All of my bridesmaids are running around with their hair all done up and make up perfect getting everything for the reception after and making sure my dress is ok. There are make up artists doing my hair and make up then there are other make up artists running around looking for my maid of honor and the flower girl. It is complete craziness but I don’t feel anything. I will though.

He asked me on our three-year anniversary. It was perfect.

***Flashback***

I came home around quarter to 7 from work. “I’m sorry I’m so late! I didn’t mean to be this late!” I said loudly so JC could hear me. I was struggling with my computer and briefcase trying to open and close the door. “We just got the deal.”

“It’s ok, but get ready because we have dinner reservations at 7:30.” He said from upstairs. I followed his voice. It led me to our bedroom where he was standing with black dress pants and no shirt. “Hi.” He said pulling me toward him.

“Hi.” I said quietly. “You look nice.” I said after he let go.

“I don’t have a shirt on genius.” He said teasingly. “I bet you like this.”

“My, aren’t we in a good mood?” I shot back. “Where are we going?”

“It’s a surprise.” He said pulling on the white button down shirt.

“I hate it when you do this.” I whined. “Since we are going somewhere nice, what should I wear?”

“Anything you want.” He left the options open. ‘Way to narrow it down Josh.’ I thought.

After I had picked out my outfit and put it on, we walked downstairs and he grabbed his keys. We then walked out to the car. I didn’t know where we were going but when we pulled up to an old abandoned warehouse I got more confused.

“What are we doing?” I asked as he got out of the car and ran around to my side. He opened my door and took my hand. “What are we doing?” I ask again.

“We’re going to dinner.” He told me matter-of-factly. He sounded like Lance. I laughed.

“Ok?” I didn’t know what else I could’ve said. I had no idea where I was. “Where are we going?”

He stopped and looked at me. “I told you it’s a surprise.” We started walking again.

“Then what’s so special about tonight you have to bring me here?” I challenged. He stopped walking again and just looked at me with a shocked expression on his face. “What?”

“Did you totally forget?” He said loudly. “Tonight is our three-year anniversary!” I did, I completely forgot! I felt so bad!

“Oh my gosh.” I gasped. “It is! I totally forgot! I’m so sorry!”

“It’s ok,” he told me. “It’s really ok. Let’s just get into the building and we will be ok. We can celebrate in there.”

“Ok,” I said just above a whisper. I felt so bad for forgetting. It’s a good thing I had his gift wrapped at home.

We got in the building and he led me to the only table on the entire floor. There were two candles. They were the only lights in the place. It was beautiful. He pulled my chair out and I sat down. After we both sat down, Justin came out and offered us a drink. Of course, I laughed. It was so cute. I could tell that JC had put a lot of thought into this night.

After we had told him what we wanted even though there was only one choice, Chris brought it back. Too bad he tripped and the wineglasses flipped off the tray, breaking. Chris had to go fill them up again. Not long after that did Joey and Lance come out bringing the food. It was absolutely beautiful. I had to know who made it because none of them could cook so I asked. “Who made this?”

“Madison, Britney, Kelly, and Cass.” All of the other guys’ girlfriends. With the exception of Britney. Her and Justin were married now. So were Joey and Kelly.

“Awe, that is so sweet. How long did it take to plan this?” I was truly amazed. It was perfect.

“About 2 weeks. I had to find the place then I had to beg the girls to cook and plus I had to get the guys to do it.”

“Oh.” I laughed. “This is really amazing. Thank you.”

“No problem. It was nothing. I love you.”

“I love you too.” I said. We talked about work and everything from when we were little (even though we already knew all of those stories) to where we were now. After the guys brought us dessert, he told me he would be right back. When he came back he stood in front of me and got down on one knee. Tears gathered in my eyes. I knew what he was doing.

“Riley Ann Masterson, I love you with all of my heart. If I lost you, I think I would die. I remember the first time you cried in front of me. I remember the first time you told me that you loved me and I know your favorite color, song, movie, TV show. You name it, I know it.” Tears were running down my face. “Riley, I know you like the back of my hand. I also know your dreams and your fears. I remember you told me that you wanted us to get married so, Riles, what do you say? Will you marry me?” He asked me like he didn’t know the answer.

I leaned over and threw my arms around his neck. “Yes, Josh, I will marry you.” That was when I felt his hand lift off my back then after a few seconds it came back down. I heard clapping. That was the best night of my life.

***End of Flashback***

It WAS perfect.

My hair is finally done. I look at it in the mirror and I see many curls and baby’s breath strategically placed within the curls. I had to go to the next room over to get my make up done. They keep sticking things in my eyes. Yeah, that’s normal but it still really bothers me. “Meg,” I ask JC’s very close friend, “have you seen him at all today?”

She was in the chair next to me getting her make up done too. “No, I haven’t but Tyler keeps coming over here looking for you.”

Just now, I’m feeling a little bit nervous. I haven’t seen him all day. And since today our home was being turned into the girl parlor he didn’t even sleep here last night. He’s over at Justin’s right now. “Oh, I can’t wait to see him.”

“I bet. I bet you’re going crazy!” She laughed. She was so fun; no wonder JC loved her to pieces.

“Yeah, right now I’m getting kind of nervous. Like something is going to go wrong or something.”

“It’s just your nerves going crazy because you’re excited.” She told me. “I promise.”

“Ok, Riley, you’re done. You need to go get dressed. It’s only 2 hours until.”

Now, I’m really nervous. I’m about to break down in tears. I walk out the door fanning my eyes so no tears would come out. I see Karen, his mother, walking toward me. “Hi sweetie,” she says. “Are you ok?”

“Yeah, just a little nervous.” That was an understatement. “I have to go find my dress.”

“Ok,” she said. “Come with me. I know exactly where it is.” I followed her down the hall to the other guestroom. There it was. Hanging on the door with a cover around it. I put the giant, fluffy, white dress on. “Do I look ok?” I said after I walked out of the bathroom. I see his mom and mine. They looked at me and my dress. The dress was sleeveless and fitted around the top then it fanned out from the waist down.

My mother comes and hugs me. “You look gorgeous.” She looks me over. “Do you need help with the buttons in the back?”

“Yeah,” I said softly. She walked around to the back of my dress. She buttons the buttons I didn’t reach. “Has either of you see Jace?”

“Oh, yes.” His mother said. “He’s downstairs. He was going crazy. He had to see you.”

“He’s here?” I said excitedly. “Can I see him?”

“No, Riley, you have your dress on. He can’t see you. It’s bad luck.”

“Then can I at least talk to him?”

“Yeah. I’ll get him.” She said. She walked to the door. “Josh!”

I heard him run up the stairs. “Here Riley, we’ll leave so you two can talk. Do NOT let him in here.” My mom said.

“Hi Josh.” My mom said

“Hi Mrs. Masterson.” He smiled. I could tell. “Hi mom. How is she?” I smiled at the thought of him.

“She’s in there. Talk to her.” She said.

“I can go in there?”

“No you can’t go in there!” She laughed. “Bye Riles.”

“Bye mom, Bye Mrs. Chasez.” I said so they could hear me.

“Hi Josh.” I said through the door. This was very weird.

“Hi, ya know this is really weird.” He told me.

“I know. I’m not sure I like this.”

“I miss you. I’ve been thinking of you all day. Have you cried yet?”

“No, not yet” I laughed. “Almost but I didn’t. Your mom saved me.” I said louder than usual because of the door. “How’s Justin?”

“Fine, talking non-stop and Britney is keeping him informed.” Then I heard a voice.

“Josh, we have to go. It’s almost time! The guests are already showing up.” It was Tyler.

“Hi Tyler.” I said to him through the door.

“Hey Riley. What are you doing in there?”

“I can’t see my groom! It’s not allowed.” I said to him. “Bye Jace, See ya in a few!”

“Bye Ry. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

I walked out of the room to go make sure my wedding party was being normal. I walked to my room and found Brianna jumping up and down with all of the flower petals flying out of the basket. “RILEY!” She screamed and ran toward me.

“Hi sweetie,” I smiled. “Where’s your mommy?”

“Downstairs.” She told me. But it sounded different because she can’t say her “R’s”.

“Where’s Mitchell?” I asked her. Mitchell was the ring barer. And her little brother. Half of my bridal party was missing. This was not good. It was 20 minutes until we all walked down the isle.

“He’s with Mommy and Megan.”

“Oh, and everyone else is in the next room over?” I must’ve looked pretty funny because here I am in a huge white dress with me on my knees talking to a three-year-old.

“Uh huh,” she nodded. I stood up and took her hand.

“Let’s go find the rest of my people!” I looked down at her. “What do ya say?”

“Yeah!” We walked out the door to the next room over to see Britney, Cassidy, Kelly, Heather, Caitlin, Madison, and Mitchell all talking and laughing. “Mommy!” She let go of my hand and ran to Kelly.

“Are you ready Riles?” Britney said walking up to me taking my hands.

“Yeah, I’m really nervous. I’m so excited though. I just don't want anything to go wrong.”

“Nothing will go wrong.” She told me. “I promise!” She ushered me over to the big chair. “Sit down.”

“Ok?” I didn’t know what they were doing.

“Ok, you know how there is that one saying?” Britney began.

“Well, the saying is something old,” Kelly said. She also gave me an OLD charm from a bracelet.

“Something new,” Heather, JC’s sister, said. She gave me a NEW bracelet to put the charm on.

“Something borrowed,” Megan said. Megan gave me JC’s Leo necklace. It made my heart melt. He never took it off. He took it off so I could have it for the wedding.

Then lastly Mitchell and Brianna walked up to me. “And something BLUE!” They yelled. They were very excited to be a part of this very special thing. They gave me a little Blue’s Clues dog. I smiled brightly.

“Thank you.” I leaned over and hugged both of them. Then I stood up carefully, making sure I didn’t step on my dress. I hugged each one of my bridesmaids. All of us were careful with our dresses. Caitlin, my best friend and my maid of honor hugged me for a long time. Then I hugged Britney. I thanked her for everything. Then Kelly, Madison, and Cassidy. Then it was Megan’s turn. “Meg, I don’t know how many times JC bothered you with our problems but thank you for everything.” I was crying now. The good thing was is they put on waterproof make up. Too bad that doesn't always mean that it didn’t run.

“You are very lucky.” She smiled at me. “He loves you and everything he told me was everything was always his fault. I knew from the very beginning that you two would make it. I love you guys!” She was smiling very brightly.

It was Heather’s turn. “Riley, what is there to say about you?” She looked at me. “You make him so happy. And I just want you to know that I’m glad he chose you. I love you girl.” We hugged.

“Thank you. That means so much to me.” There was a knock at the door. It was my dad.

“Riley, Honey, its time.”

“Daddy?” I asked, letting go of Heather.

“Yeah sweetie.” He hugged me. “I’m so happy. But my baby girl is getting married and she won’t be mine anymore.”

“Riles, we’ll be downstairs.” Heather said quietly.

“Ok,” they left the room. It was just me and my dad. “Daddy, I will always be your little girl. But I’m in good hands now.”

“I know. Josh is a good guy.” He had tears in his eyes. “I love you so much.” He hugged me again.

“I love you too, Daddy.” It finally hit me. I was getting married in just minutes. “Its time Daddy. We need to go downstairs.”

“I know, lets go.”

We walked downstairs and I saw JC standing at the altar. He didn’t see me yet. All of the guys were down there with JC. He was very nervous, he was fidgeting. The music started and Kelly told Brianna and Mitchell to start going. They walked slowly. Brianna did perfect. She let go of the petals evenly. I could see Joey’s smile dance. His kids were doing a wonderful job. It was time for Caitlin to go. Then Heather went then Megan, then Britney, then Kelly went Madison went next and right before me, and Cassidy went. My music started and everyone stood up. It was my turn. I smiled brightly. JC stopped fidgeting. I saw his smile get even bigger.

When I finally got to where he was standing, he took my hands and we walked closer to the priest. Time passed and it was time for the rings. We said our vows and then we kissed. It was our first kiss as a married couple. We walked back down the isle together. Everyone else followed. I saw Brianna take Joey’s hand and they walked together. Nothing went wrong.

All of the other guests went over to the huge tent that was set up in our back yard. The wedding party went to the tent too. JC and I waited a few minutes. He kissed me once more. “Do you feel different?” I asked him.

“I don’t know...maybe a little bit.” He smiled at me. “Do you?”

“Not really. It will later though.” I remembered that he wasn’t wearing his necklace. “Thank you for letting my use your necklace.” I said pulling it out of my dress.

“Yeah, I wondered if you took it. I worked didn’t it?”

“Yes, it did. Did it feel weird to not have it on?”

“Yeah. But I knew it was in good hands.”

“Wanna go to the party? They’re all waiting for us. After all, it is our reception.” I laughed.

“Yeah, that might be good.” We stood up from the couch and as we were walking out to the patio a little blonde haired girl ran up to me and hugged my legs. Or as best she could because of my dress. “Hey Jules, what's up?” JC smiled at the little girl. She was my niece.

“Julie!” I bent down and hugged her. I lifted her up and all three of us walked out to the tent. But now everyone was clapping. I set Julie down by my brother and walked up to the bridal table. JC and I sat in the middle. After we talked a little bit with everyone and people came up to talk to us it got quiet. Maybe that was because Chris was tapping his fork against the glass causing everyone else to join in. JC and I looked at each other and kissed. Chris started laughing because we did what he wanted.

It was time for the best man to make his toast so Tyler stood up. “I will make this short because I know all of you people want to eat. Ok, so I just want to thank Riley for making Josh so happy and on behalf of my mom and dad, Heather and I, we want t welcome you into the family. Oh, and Josh, you do know how to pick women!” He laughed. I looked over to JC and saw him blush. I smiled. “I love both of you! Good luck!”

Our table went to get food first. When I walked up, Mitchell walked up to me so I stopped. “Hi sweetie,” I said. “Wanna come get some food with me?”

“Ok,” he said. “Will you dance with me tonight?” He asked me.

I pointed to myself and looked around. “Me?” He nodded and smiled brightly. “You wanna dance with me?” He nodded again. “I would love to dance with you. I have to dance with JC first but after that I will ok?”

“Yeah!” He went up further in the line and stopped when he got to JC. I walked up to where my new husband was and grabbed his hand. “I get to dance with Riley!”

“Really?” He looked over at me. I smiled at him. “You lucky duck! Do I get to dance with her?” He asked Mitchell.

“Yeah, Riley said that she would dance with you first then she would dance with me.” He spoke with no “R’s” just like his sister.

“Oh, ok.” He said. “Where’s your daddy?” He asked.

“Dad is sitting with Mom and Bri.” He said matter-of-factly.

“Oh, ok.” I said. “It’s out turn to get food. Do you want some now or do you wanna wait for Mom?”

“I have to go ask Mommy first.” He told me.

“Oh then how about you just wait for mom.”

“Yeah, ok.” He said walking away.

“He’s so cute.” I gushed. We went and got our dinner and went back to our seats. The other tables went up and got their dinner.

After we ate we danced a little bit. It was our first dance. I was just us two on the floor. I always remembered seeing the bride and groom dance alone but I guess it wasn’t really that big of a deal. But now that it was me, it was so special. After the song was done, Mitchell came running to me. “Is it my turn yet?” He asked.

“No sweetie, I have to dance with my dad first then Tyler and then JC’s dad. Then it’s your turn. Ok?” There was fast song on and I had an idea. “Do you know where Bri is?”

“Yeah, she is with that one Julie girl. They are under the big table.”

“Well go get her and we can all dance together now. Ok?”

“Ok. I will be right back.” He said and quickly ran to find his sister and her newfound friend.

Joey walked up to me and wrapped his arms around me. “You did great today!”

“Thank you. I thought I was going to cause a flood.” I laughed.

“Dad, you need to move. We are gonna dance with Riley now.” Mitchell, one kid you would never expect to talk much said.

“What do you say?” He said to his son.

“Please?”

“Yeah, Bye Riles.” He said. “Save me a dance.”

“Don’t worry. All of you will get one.” I smiled and waved to a great guy.

The kids and I all danced together. They were laughing and having the time of their lives.

(JC’s Point of view)

My new bride is out on the dance floor with a bunch of little kids. They’re all laughing and she looks like an angel. She’s my angel. I’m so lucky to have found her. Not only do I love her but everyone she meets does. She’s just a great person inside and out. My family loves her and that makes me happy and I’m pretty sure her family likes me so I got very lucky.

“Josh,” Meg said to me. “You two will be very happy together.”

“I know. I’m so happy.” I looked back to the dance floor. “She’s having so much fun. She loves those kids. She’s gonna be a great mom.” I was mainly just thinking that but I said it out loud.

“Yes she will.” Megan was truly happy for me.

“Jace,” Britney said placing her hand on my shoulder. “The wedding was beautiful.” She said while smiling. “Look at her. She loves those kids. I’m gonna go talk to her, I’ll be right back ok J?” She said more to Justin than me.

“Ok dear.” Justin said to Britney. “Jace, really, Riley’s great. Congrats man!”

“Thanks.” I said looking at her. “I love her so much.”

Riley walked to me and grabbed my hand. She kissed my cheek. “Hello new husband of mine.” She looked up and smiled. This was probably the best day of her life.

“Hello new wife.” She was such a dork and she really didn’t care. That was what I love most about her. She was so carefree. “Ya like dancing with a thousand three-year-olds?” I asked her.

“Yeah actually I do.” She told me. “They’re way more fun than you.” I acted insulted. “You’re not insulted you moron! You know I love you.” She smiled again. Actually the smile never went away, it just got bigger. “Let’s go cut the cake!”

“Ok.” I agreed. “Let’s tell everyone.” We walked to the DJ and asked if we could use the microphone. He said yes.

“Hey, can you hear me?” She asked. She got a lot of ‘yeah’s’. “Ok, well we’re about to cut the cake so if you please sit down then I will....” She had to think of something. “Give each one of you a piece!” She laughed.

“Good save Riley. Good save.” I took the microphone from her since she was laughing uncontrollably. “Thank you. We will get to the cake as soon as she calms down.” I laughed too. I gave the microphone back to the DJ. Riley and I made our way to the huge cake she picked out.

She put her hand on the knife first and I put my hand on it after her. We lifted our hands to the cake and cut ourselves a piece. We both picked up a piece and tangled our arms together and fed each other a piece. She got it all over my face, I think she did it on purpose so I got some frosting and put it on her nose. We were laughing really hard.

Mitchell, Julie, Brianna, and a few other kids started clinking their glasses. I’m not sure if they knew what that meant but I saw Joey and Chris smiling. It was probably them who told them to do it. Kelly and Madison were talking to Joey and Chris. But soon, everyone else started too. We wiped the frosting off of our faces and kissed. Not that we minded but it just wasn’t like us to make out in front of people.

It was time for her to dance with her dad so she went and I danced with my mom. After the song ended, Joey and Brianna came to the dance floor because Brianna wouldn’t go by herself. There were a lot of dance songs and slow songs. Riley and I got to dance a lot. The reception lasted a long time. Riley and I had to send people away at some time because the next day we had to leave for our honeymoon. So Riley told me to make everyone leave by at least 3am. That would give us at least 3 hours of sleep. So 2:30 rolled around and people were already leaving. Our parents and the guys stayed until we told them to leave but all of the others left.

“We have really good friends.” She told me. We were upstairs and I was unbuttoning her dress. “Thank god they’re cleaning up our backyard.”

“Yeah, we’re gonna be gone for - you’re done- we’re gonna be gone for two weeks so it would all just be left out.” She walked into the other room and came out in a tank top and pajama bottoms.

“This is so cool.” She stated. She wasn’t making a lot of sense because she was tired.

“What is cool Riley?” I asked her.

“Us being married now. That’s so cool.” She smiled, sitting down on the bed. “I mean it feels the same but its better.”

“Yeah I guess it does. Tonight was really fun.”

“It was. But Josh, I’m really tired and we have to wake up early tomorrow so can we please go to bed?”

“Yeah.” I walked to my side of the bed and I kissed her. “Goodnight my wife.” That felt good to say. I didn’t care how corny it sounded.

“Goodnight my husband.” She smiled and turned the light out. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Time is passing *~*~~*~*~*~~*~

(Riley’s Point of view)

JC is on tour right now and I have very exciting news for him. We’ve been married for 7 months now. He left to go on tour three months ago. He’s coming home soon. I mean, the secret I have to tell could be told over the phone but it wouldn’t be the same. He would want to hear it in person. Only a few more days and then I can tell him.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Time is passing~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

JC came home. I still haven’t told him. Maybe I will right now. He is setting the table. All of the girls know. Brianna and Mitchell know too. They were very excited to find out. Oh, I forgot to tell you, Britney is pregnant too. She is due this month, near the end. Yeah, if you didn’t catch the secret by that last clue then I will just flat out tell you. I’m pregnant. I’m two months into it. So, JC doesn’t know yet. He has no clue. I should tell him at dinner. Oh, yeah, that’s now!

“So, how was the tour?” I ask.

“Good. I missed you a lot though. It was really hard. Now I know how Justin felt.” He said. “How have you been?”

‘Pregnant,’ I thought. I couldn’t say it like that. He would pee his pants. That would be funny to see. “Ok, I haven’t been feeling very good in the morning though.” Maybe if I keep hinting it he’ll get it.

“Really?” He asked very concerned. “Have you see gone to see a doctor?”

‘Oh yeah!’ I said loudly in my head. “Yeah,” I said. I didn’t know if I should just flat out tell him.

“What did they say?” He asked still worried.

“Well,” I paused. This was it. He was gonna freak out! I took a deep breath. “Are you ready? Are you sure you want to know?”

He got very worried. He took my hand in his. “Yes, Riley, you need to tell me. Are you ok?”

“Oh yeah, I’m great!” He looked very confused now. I took another deep breath. “Josh, sweetie,” I paused again. “We’re gonna have a baby!”

He didn’t move or say anything for a while. That scared me. What was he thinking?

(JC’s point of view)

I came home from touring. I missed Riley so much. I couldn’t wait to come home. Right now we’re sitting at the dinner table and she is telling me how she hasn’t been feeling very good in the morning. Automatically I get worried and ask her if she has gone to see a doctor. She says yes. I asked her what they said and she asks me if I’m ready. Again, I think the worst and I freak out.

Then she tell me we’re gonna have a baby. I freeze. I don’t know what to think. Am I really ready to be a dad? YES! “Really?” I ask.

“Yes!” She is beaming.

(Riley’s Point of view)

He finally says something. “Really?” He seems to be excited.

I was so excited that he was happy. “Yes!” I told him.

“How far along are you?” I could tell he had a lot of questions for me. His appetite flew out the window as soon as I told him.

“Two months.” I smiled at him.

“Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?”

“No Jace, I don’t know.” I told him I didn’t really want to know what it was. I wanted it to be a complete surprise.

“Are we going to know?” He asked. “Can we know? When can we know?”

“Ok, well sweetie, I don’t really want to know because then it wouldn’t be a surprise.”

“Well if that’s what you want,” he still sounded excited. “Can I call my mom? Does she know?”

“Yes, you can call your mom and no she doesn’t know. I thought that you might want to tell her so I didn’t.”

“Ok great, I’ll be right back. I gotta go get the phone. She’ll want to talk to you so I’ll be right back.”

I laughed. He had already said that. “Ok, Jace, I’ll be ready.”

He stood up and got the phone. When he came back he was smiling at me. “Yeah mom, she’s right here.” He handed me the phone and kissed my forehead.

“Hello?” I said into the phone.

“Hi Riley, I heard. Josh just told me. Congratulations! How far along are you?”

“Hi, thank you! Yeah I’m really excited. So is Jace, as you could tell. Um, two months.”

“Is it a boy or a girl?” She asked. She was just like JC. This is so cute. They’ll have to fly down here. That would be great!

“Actually, I don't think we’re going to find out because I want it to be a surprise.”

“Oh, that’s a great idea. We’ll have to come down and see you guys.”

“Yeah, that would be great!” I looked at JC. I had a feeling he wanted to spend time with me. “Hey, we just wanted to call and tell you guys but its getting late so we’re gonna go now ok?”

“Ok dear, I’ll talk to you later. Bye Riley. Tell Josh that I’ll talk to him later! Bye.”

“Bye.” We hung up; I walked over to my husband and hugged him. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” We walked over to the couch since we already cleared the table and sat down. “I’m really happy. Why didn’t you tell me when you first found out?”

“Because Josh, it wouldn’t have been the same. Would you rather me have told you on the phone? I wanted to see your reaction.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I would’ve wanted to hear it over the phone.” I loved these moments. The ones we spent just sitting together and cuddling.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Time is passing~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Today the baby is due. JC has been really watching me. Making sure I eat right and making sure I’ve been getting enough sleep. I’m lying in bed unable to sleep. I’m HUGE! I’m waiting for JC to wake up. Maybe I should go downstairs. I stand up and walk downstairs and walk into the kitchen. JC walks downstairs not long after me. “Morning,” I say to him.

“Morning,” he said back.

“HOLY CRAP!” I scream.

“What? What happened? Oh God, what happened.” He said frantically.

“My,” I paused. “My water,” I still couldn’t believe this. “My water… it just broke!” I finally said. “Oh my God! We have to go! The baby is coming!”

“Oh crap! Ok, I’ll go get the stuff and we can get in the car!” He was freaking out. This was so scary for both of us. We had never done this before and all we knew was how to breathe and that when my water broke, we would have to get to the hospital. And Fast. He walked down in his pajamas.

“Jace, You need to put clothes on.” I said calmly.

“No,” he said sternly, “no, we need to get you to the hospital.” He really didn’t care what he looked like. He grabbed my purse, my bag, and his keys off of the key rack. We jumped in the car and sped off to the hospital. “Hi, um, This is Riley Ann Chasez, she’s about to have a baby.” He said quickly.

“Ok,” the lady at the desk said. “We can get her in a room right now.”

“Ok great.” I was very nervous. The doctor came out with a wheel chair and I sat in it. He wheeled me to a room and that was where I held JC’s hand. “Jace, I’m afraid!” I told him quietly.

“Everything will be ok. Riles, I promise. I will be here and you can hold my hand. Do you want to call your mom and tell her?”

“Can you please? I think I’m gonna die. I’m so afraid.”

“Yeah,” He pulled out his cell phone. “Hey, it’s Josh.” There was a pause. “Yeah, she’s ok. She’s in labor right now.” He looked at me. “Can you talk?” He asked me.

“Yeah, for a second.” I told him. “Yeah hi mom.” Pause. “I’m really -OW! - Afraid.” I grabbed his hand. “Mom, I gotta go. I’ll call you later. Bye mom.” I hung up the phone on my mom.

“Mrs. Chasez, we are gonna have these babies right now.” The doctor said. I heard Babies. Not just baby, but babies. That meant more than ONE!

I look at JC and he looks back at me. I then look at the doctor. “You mean there’s more than one?” I ask.

“Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Chasez, you are going to have twins.” I look back at JC. He is smiling and then I think: I should be happy. I’m so afraid. “Ok, Mrs. Chasez, you need to push.”

“Ok Riles, on the count of three. 1...2...3 PUSH!” I pushed. I squeezed his hand really hard. I looked him and he had his mouth open and a look of pain on his face.

“Are you ok?” I asked breathlessly. He just nodded.

“You need to push again.”

“1...2...3...” I pushed. I heard screaming. It was my baby. I had to push one more time and the baby was out. I started to cry. I had to push again. The second baby was on its way. I heard screaming again. One more push and both would be out. Both babies were out now. I got to hold my two baby girls. The doctor took the babies and washed them off.

I was unbelievably tired. “We need names for the girls.” I told him.

“Yeah. We do. What should we name them?”

“How about Melissa?” I said looking at him.

“Yeah, and her middle name can he Ann. Just like her Mommy.” He smiled. And the other one can be Alexandra”

“Kimberlee.” I stated. “Alexandra Kimberlee.”

“I love it!” He said. “Can I call my mom?” He asked.

“Yeah, please do. You didn’t even tell her I was in labor.” I told him. “Can I talk to her too?”

“Yeah you can talk to her.” He dialed. “Mom?” He said quickly. “We had two little girls. Two! Twins! Two little beautiful girls!” He was ecstatic. I smiled to myself. “Yeah, she nearly broke my hand but she did great. She was really afraid. She’s right here. Wanna talk to her?” He handed me the phone.

“Hello?” I said tiredly.

“Hi darling, I won’t talk too long because I know you’re tired but I just wanted to say that I’m really proud of you. And to have two beautiful little girls is even more amazing. Last night was the last night you go to sleep the whole night through.” She laughed. “What are their names?”

“Melissa Ann and Alexandra Kimberlee.” I was so happy. I did it, I had made it through the nine months with flying colors and what I got out of it was amazing. I got two beautiful, healthy little girls. This was going to be so fun. When I saw Britney with Derrick, I wanted so badly to have one of my own. Now I had two.

“Oh, those are perfect.” I yawned on the phone. “Ok dear, I’ll let you go. Get some rest. Bye.”

“Bye,” I hung up the phone. “Your mom says bye. She said that last night was the last night we would get a full night’s rest.” I shut my eyes. “We might want to call the guys and fill them in. You know, just to let them know everything is ok.”

“Yeah, that would be wise.” He looked at me. I think, after all, my eyes were closed.

“Riley, I’ll let you sleep. Night.” He kissed my forehead. “I love you.” I didn’t say anything. I just nodded.

I fell asleep but I woke up much too early. We were getting ready to leave the hospital. JC was holding one of the girls and I held the other one. They weren’t identical but they looked very much alike. Both of them had brown hair and blue eyes. Just like their parents.

Luckily we had put the car seats in the car last night so today we wouldn’t be rushed and forget. When we got home the girls were sleeping so we brought them up to their new room and put the in the crib. There was only one so we put one of the girls in the playpen. Tomorrow we would have to go get another crib. We needed two of everything now. But that was ok. I felt very blessed to have had two healthy babies.

I was still very tired. I had been a long day. JC and I went back downstairs and brought a monitor with us. We heard the doorbell ring; I walked over to the door with my wonderful husband behind me. I opened the door to see the entire crowd, including Brianna and Mitchell. “Surprise!” They yelled. I flinched. I didn’t want them to wake up the girls. “I’m sorry!” Britney said immediately.

“It’s ok. I just don't want them to wake up." I said softly. I didn’t have a lot of energy. “Thank you everyone.” I said eyeing the balloons and flowers.

“Can we see the babies?” Brianna asked.

“Sure.” I said. “We’ll bring them down.” I said. I looked at JC who was talking with his friends. “Jace, do you wanna help me?” It was more of an order than a question.

He stood up and walked to me quickly. “Yeah,” he looked at the group. “We’ll be right back.”

We walked upstairs. I picked up Alexandra. It was cool that I could already tell which one was which. After we had the girls, we walked downstairs. They were still asleep. We sat down. I looked at my husband and even though I had little kids swarming my babies, all I could think of was how gentle he was with them. “They’re beautiful,” Madison gushed. “I want a baby!” Chris looked at her. We all laughed. The noise woke them up. Alex started to cry. I switched positions and she stopped.
