One Christmas Eve I was so worried When I went to bed, Because the fireplace was so hot - Its embers still glowed red; And I could hardly go to sleep. I feared that Santa might Never get inside our house - 'Twould be an awful plight!
But when I woke up early And crept along the hall, I shouted out in happiness, For he had made a call! He left a little puppy - My heart's greatest desire. But often since, I've wondered how He came in past that fire.
