Pregnancy Loss PageThe majority of pregnancies are perfectly fine but unfortunately 2% of unborn babies have a serious problem. I honestly feel that when someone is pregnant for the first time, they automatically believe there will be nothing wrong and get lulled into a false sense of security when certain abnormalities are converned.

We all think we won't be that 2%, myself included, and when that straw is drawn, you think "why me?" It's a natural reaction. It's a common thing in this day and age that tests can be taken to detect an abnormality in an unborn baby. They are part of the antenatal routine and it is upto the parents whether they want them performed or not. |
Waiting for test results can be a very anxious time for parents and you feel like you want fall asleep and wake up when the results are in. It can be a very distressing time for parents, this is exactly how I felt and if it wasn't for the wonderful support from my family then I don't think I could have got through those 2 weeks of waiting. |
When an abnormality has been detected the hardest decision to make is to decide the future of the pregnancy and the decision has to be made by the parents and for the right reasons, no one should judge them on their decision as no one knows what to decide until they have also been in the position. |
