Witness "sickened" by attack

A witness told the jury at Hull crown court that she was "sickened" when she saw a Safraz Najeib kicked in the head by a group of men. "The men ran off and then one man ran back and kicked the man lying on the floor in the head," Amelie Williams, a student told the jury "It was a very hard kick, a swinging kick - horrible. And I had to turn away, I was sickened."

The witness said that as she and her boyfriend saw the attack and one of the men picked the man on the floor up by his chest and hit him before they all ran off.

As she was walking away with her boyfriend she heard a group of people running behind them. One of them - the same man she had seen kicking the victim in the head - barged between them, winding her, she said.

Another man, whom she had later identified as Jonathan Woodgate, stopped and helped her to her feet. "He picked me up by the shoulder and said 'Are you all right love?'" Said Miss Williams. "He then ran off down the street after the other men."

Miss Williams said that she had identified Woodgate at an identity parade in which she was shown video footage of a number of men, she had also been shown footage in which Lee Bowyer was shown, but had not identified him as being one of those involved in the incident.

Woodgate, Bowyer, Clifford and Caveney deny causing Mr Najeib grievous bodily harm with intent. They also deny affray.

The trial continues.
