Woodgate gaffe by red-faced Ridsdale

What embarrassment for Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale when, armed with erroneous information, he congratulated Jonathan Woodgate on his inclusion in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad. Congratulations all round followed after Ridsdale had insisted on gate-crashing the team dressing-room before last weekend's Premiership game at Leicester, bearing his glad tidings. It was left to a sombre director of communications, David Walker, to put the record straight after the win at Filbert Street and tell Woodgate that he had, in fact, been excluded from Eriksson's World Cup planning.
