Woody in England squad

Four United players are in the England squad for the Euro 2004
qualifiers with Slovakia and Macedonia, but midfielder Lee Bowyer
has been overlooked for selection.
Alan Smith, Paul Robinson, Jonathan Woodgate and Danny Mills are all
included.

Despite providing the cross for Alan Smith's goal in last month's
friendly draw with Portugal, Bowyer will not pick up his second cap
this time around unless injuries hit the squad.

Even though Paul Robinson did not play in the Portugal game at Villa
Park, he could be given the nod ahead of Seaman and David James.
Despite being the current custodian of the right-back position, Danny
Mills faces a fight to hang on to his place with Gary Neville now fit
again.

Eriksson lost former Leeds skipper Rio Ferdinand to injury at the
11th hour, and he admitted the loss of the Manchester United man
leaves a major void but feels it could hand a chance to other
players - possibly Jonathan Woodgate.

The Swede said: "Losing Rio is obviously a blow and we all wish him a
speedy recovery. However, we do have other very good defenders who
are in form and it will be a chance for them to show what they can
do."

Full squad:
David Seaman, David James, Paul Robinson; Gary Neville, Ugo Ehiogu,
Sol Campbell, Ashley Cole, Danny Mills, Jonathan Woodgate, Gareth
Southgate, Wayne Bridge; David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Nicky Butt,
Paul Scholes, Trevor Sinclair, Frank Lampard, Owen Hargreaves, Kieron
Dyer; Emile Heskey, Michael Owen, Darius Vassell, Alan Smith.
