Woody tipped for the top

New club captain Dominic Matteo has tipped Jonathan Woodgate to be
every bit as good as Rio Ferdinand in a year's time.

Woodgate is concentrating on football again after a torrid couple of
years off the field, and is having an impressive pre-season.
He will be trying his best to get himself back in the frame for
England and Sven Goran Eriksson is aware of his ability.

Matteo said: "It is hard to compare two players of that quality, Rio
has just moved to United for £30m which speaks for itself about his
quality, Woody is a year younger but there isn't a lot of difference
between the two already.

"Rio would probably say that, he has played with Jonathan and he
knows how good he is.

"They are both very quick read the game well and can both play, they
are also very fit and that counts for a lot as well.

"Woody has got a good pre-season under his belt and is just looking
forward to proper games now.

"It is a big year for Jonathan but I think he knows that himself."
