The key question
by Mark Gibbs
The key question is
this, is Ferdinand really so much better than a
fit healthy Woodgate? I believe the answer to that is not better at
all. Woodgates performances two years back were good enough to put
him into the England tean ahead of Rio. Play Woodgate alongside
Matteo or a fit reborn Radebe, and the central defence will still be
as good as anybody else's in the Premiership. Our full backs lack
consistency, that was one of our biggest problems last year.
Hopefully Tel will sort that out soon. Losing Ferdinand is not the
end of the World, could be a blessing in disguise in fact. The cash
from his sale will enable us to get a top notch replacement for
Bowyer, and it may still be possible for McPhail to turn it around
and fulfil some of his potential. We have lacked a creative
midfielder since McAllister (who?) left us. I'm looking for at least
success in one of the cups this time around, and a top five finish.
If we win nothing though, Tel will have to go.
