The streets were lonely and quiet as I stepped out into the night. Father would kill me if he found out. Ye Ye, on the other hand will defend me but lately his protests & comments aren't any good around the house. Father seems to trust Da Jie better.
I got ready to make my move when a hand grabbed me from behind. I held my breath thinking it was Father.
"Shh... I won't harm you." the soothing voice said as he pulled me into a dark alley finally releasing.
"You are..??" I asked, afraid.
"I am Su Peng." he replied quietly. I could see the sincerity & fear in his eyes as I briefly glanced at him.
"I'm Zhao Wei Wei." I told him unsure about my sudden trust.
"Sorry, the soldiers were coming this way & seeing you alone in he road just got me concerned." he said.
"Concerned? But you hardly know me??" I said disbelieving.
"Don't get me wrong. The streets are unsafe nowadays. I was just lending a hand." he told me & I first noticed his good looks. Lean & muscular with a strong jaw-bone. A cute smile lit his face as I smiled lightly at him. Embarrassed with my sudden surge of boldness, I blushed involuntarily. Thanking the dimly lit alley, I composed myself.
"It's getting late. I'd better send you home."
"No. It's OK. My house is not far. And if Father sees you, God knows what he'll do." I told him dramitically & waved & started to walk away.
"When will I see you again??" he asked, obviously embarrassed by his bold attitude & said.
"Soon, If fate permits..." I walked away...
