     Frame Relay

Frame Relay is an industry-standard, switched data link layer protocol that handles multiple virtual circuits using High-Level Data Link Control (HDLC) encapsulation between connected devices. In many cases, Frame Relay is more efficient than X.25, the protocol for which it is generally considered a replacement.

It is much cheaper than T1 or T3 lines for companies. It can be adjusted usually within hours from the phone company verses the wait for a phone company technician to make it out to your site.

The Committed Information Rate (CIR) can be adjusted up or down as you determine your needs after the original implementation
