A week after my date with Nick he called me. We talked for hours and the conversation was terrific. We talked about a lot of things. Mostly about him being on tour and about our personal lives.
At the end of the conversation he asked me to join him, Brian, and Kevin in a game of basketball during the afternoon. I agreed and he said he would pick me up at 1:00.
I spent my whole morning cleaning; something I hadn't done in days. So when I was done the apartment looked like new. My clothes stank of cleaning liquids so I decided to take a quick shower to get ready. After the shower I put on some black wind breakers and a white tank top. Then I put my hair up into a pony tail so it would be easier to play. It was 12:50 so I decided to go downstairs and get a water bottle. The water from the faucet was cool so I filled my water bottle all the way to the top. Then I served myself a glass of water and drank half of it.
The doorbell rang and it went to answer it. Nick stood there looking around until he noticed that I stood infront of him.
"Oh hey, are you ready?" he asked looking at me.
"Yeah, let's go," I said closing the door and locking it.
We walked to his car which was parked in the same spot it had been parked last time. Nick wore some black shorts with a white stripe on the side, and an undershirt. He looked really hot and I couldn't help but stare. he looked at me smiling, "What's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing I was just... ummm... I forgot what I was going to say!" I said embarrased. He laughed as we both got into the car.
"Brian and Kevin are waiting for us at the park already," he said after turning on the car.
"What park is it?"
"It's on the other side of town, the side people don't really go to. So it's safe for us not the get mobbed by fans. It's like on this hill kind of... it's hard to explain, but it's really nice. You'll see when we get there."
"Sounds nice."
When we got to the park I saw that it was empty becuase it was a thursday and kids were in school and people were working. My boss had given me the day off because he was in a good mood, so I was thankful to him. The park was in a secluded area. Not much people liked to hang around in it, because they were too busy. It was a beautiful park though. The grass around the court was greener than any other grass, and there were lots of benches for people just to sit and relax. To the left of the basketball courts were the baseball fields, and infront of those was the football field. A drinking fountain stood between the basketball court and the baseball field. Brian and Kevin were in one of the courts warming up, shooting hoops. Nick opened my door and we walked over to meet the guys.
Brian wore some blue shorts and a t-shirt with a picture of a basketball on it. Kevin wore black shorts and a black t-shirt that was blank. They both started walking towards Nick and me. They smiled as they approached, Brian bouncing the ball back and forth, and Kevin drinking from his water bottle.
"I thought you weren't going to show up, since you took so long," Brian said jokingly at Nick.
He smiled and said," Well I'm here now and we're ready to kick your butt.
"But first introduce us to this beauty that you bring," Kevin said looking straight at me. He was really tall and really good looking. I had to look up to look him in the eye. Brian however was about my size and I didn't have to look up to him. Kevin extended his hand out to and I accepted it shaking it.
"My name's Kevin," he said.
I'm Sophie I said smiling at him.
"Pleasure to meet you," he answered.
Next Brian took hold of my hand and introduced himself to me. He was really cool so down to earth that it was hard to believe. He asked me how things were going and I told him everything was great, and then I asked him about his life, and he said he had no complaints.
"Here... I'll be nice to you and I'll let you start the game," Brian said handing the ball to Nick.
Kevin took the ball from Nick, and said,"Why don't we shoot for take out." He handed me the ball saying I should take the first shot. I smiled at him weakly as I got the ball. I could feel my body tensing up, as I walked over to the line infront of the basket. Kevin and Brian's eyes were on me. They both smiled to reasure me.
Nick walked over to me. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"I don't think I'll make it because I'm too short."
He laughed,"I'll help you." I didn't understand what he meant there was no way he could help me out with my height problem. Still, I waited to see what he would do. He stood behind me his body pressed against mine. His arms and legs lined up with mine, and he put his hand on the ball. His lips lay close to my ear as he spoke,"Keep your eye on it and don't worry about a thing."
I listened to his instructions as I took my shot. The ball hit the backboard and rolled around the ring until it fell in. I jumped with happiness and Nick smiled at me from where he stood.
"Wow, we got a proffesional here!" Brian said.
Nick laughed as he went for the ball and he stood behind the line waiting for a chance to pass it to me. Immediately Brian blocked me while Kevin tried to block Nick. I tricked Brian from covering me and ran to the side. Nick threw me the ball and I bounced it back and forth infront of Brian's face. I tried to pass it to Nick but Kevin was too tall. I took a shot at it, but Brian blocked it and passed it to Kevin. Nick went after Kevin while I blocked Brian. Kevin took a shot but the ball only circled and fell out. Brian went for the rebound but Nick beat him to it. He passed it to from underneath Kevin's arms. I threw the ball back at Nick because I couldn't make it with Kevin blocking me.
Nick took a shot and it went in. I smiled at him from accross the court as he handed the ball to Brian for them to take out. Brian threw the ball over Nick's head and mine too. Kevin caught it and took a shot. The ball went in easily without hitting anything.
The game continued on until we were tied 10 to 10. At that point we decided to switch teams. I would be with Brian and Kevin would with Nick. Brian was really good at playing, but Kevin and Nick were really tall so most of the time they intercepted the ball from us. At one point Brian passed the ball to me and I teased Nick with it. He took grabs at it but I bounced back and forth and under my legs. He stepped closer to me and charged at me. I turned but my leg was caugh with his. I felt myself falling backwards and Nick fell towards me.
I landed on the ground pretty hard and then Nick landed on top of me. The ball rolled away from us into the field somewhere. Nick put his arms on the ground to lift himself off the ground. He smiled down at me and said,"Pretty uncomfortable position, isn't it?"
"Not bad."
He laughed and leaned in to kiss me. He drew my body closer to his and kept it there. Then we pulled away and just layed there.
"What was that for?" I asked him.
"Nothing..."
Then I leaned in to kiss him.
"What was that for?" he asked me.
I laughed, "Nothing."
Kevin and Brian stood on the court waiting and laughing at us. They were also wistling at us and saying things like,"Hey when's the wedding?" or making kissing noises at us. Nick got up and extended his hand out to me. I took it and he brought me up to my feet. He then went to get the basketball and he threw it back at Brian. Then he came back to were I was standing and put his arm around me. We walked back to the court together while the guys stood there and waited.
"So what do you guys want to do now?" Kevin asked.
"They probably want to spend some time alone," Brian said winking at us.
I smiled and said,"Well, actually I have to head back home cuz I promised to help my friend design an apartment."
"Why don't you join us for a slice of pizza," Kevin offered.
"Yeah, don't worry it's on Nick," Brian added.
I smiled at them,"Thank you, I'd really love too, but I have been promising my friend that I would this for her, for quite a while now."
Brian looked at me with a sad puppy face, and Kevin just laughed at him. "Well, we'll have to do this again sometime," Brian said.
"Ok, just tell Nick and he'll tell me about it." I waved goodbye to both Kevin and Brian as Nick and I walked away. We stepped into the car and drove off. Nick talked about the basketball game and about Kevin and Brian. He told me how Brian and him were like brothers and that they were the best of friends. He also told me about how Kevin was the big brother of the group that took care of everyone. We then talked about his memories and other things.
A few minutes later we stood infront of my door about to say goodbye.
"That was a great game," I said.
"Yeah, it was pretty cool. Oh, hey listen I've got something to tell you about... next friday the guys and their girlfriends are going to have a dinner at a restaurant and I want you to join us. I'll come pick you up and everything just please say yes."
I took a deep breath as I considered his proposal,"Ok, I'll see if I can get the day off for that day and then we'll meet here at 8:00."
Nick's face shined with happiness and he picked me up and spun me. He laughed and put me down. Then he kissed me and said goodbye. I smiled at him as he left and happily went into my apartment.
Half an hour later, Belle rang the doorbell.
"Hey you, I've been calling you all day, where were you?" She said.
"No where I just went out to buy some things," I lied.
"Oh well I brought some pictures that I thought would be perfect for the house I'm designing. I drew some of these and the others Alexis did for me. The furniture I can order from online and the rest is easy for me, but I need you help choosing the perfect things for the place. Here are some pictures I took of the home," she said handing me a pack of photos.
I looked over them while Belle spread all of the other things on the floor. For the rest of the day I helped Belle choose the perfect things for this home, and I was grateful that she didn't remember to ask about Nick. Alexis and her were my best friends, but I felt that I wasn't ready to tell them or they weren't ready to hear it. Anyways I kept my excitement to myself.
