March 1999
"Oh my god! Joey! I haven't talked to you in forever! How did you get my cell number? Oh...she did? No, that's ok, I'm glad you called. Uh huh, yeah, his name is Nick, remember my friend? Yeah, tall and blond, well we're going out now. I really love him. I know. Saturday? Yeah Nick has some more promotional stuff for their new album and he's got some more interviews, which has been taking up a majority of his time so I have all the time in the world. I know I sound bitter, but oh well. Hahaha...ok, so I'm staying the in Plaza in NYC room 1008, you know where that is right? Ok good, yeah that sounds nice, so I'll see you then. Yeah, ok buh bye." Jessica said, closing her cell phone.
"Who was that?" Nick asked suspiciously, coming into the bedroom of the suite.
"My ex-boyfriend, Joey,"Jessica replied, slipping the phone into her purse.
Nick's eyes widened,"HIM?! Why is he calling you?!"
"He wants to get back together with me again and then after that we're going to have wild animal sex," Jessica said rolling her eyes, emphasizing the word 'sex'. "Please just grow up Nick. My god, do you always have to be so jealous and immature? You're overreacting."
"Why did he call?" Nick asked, sourly.
"Cause he wants to have dinner with me to catch up on old times," Jessica said sitting down on the bed.
"PLEASE! Is that what he told you?? Do you know that's like his way of telling you he wants to screw your brains out," Nick muttered.
"It is not!" Jessica exclaimed,"He's a friend of mine and I haven't seen him in a long time. I'm not allowed to be friends with guys now? I'm friends with Brian and that doesn't mean we're going to have sex."
"That's different. You and Brian never went out. You and Joey have,"Nick said, sitting next to her.
"Don't you trust me?" Jessica asked, taking his hand.
"I trust you. I don't trust him,"Nick replied, bringing her hand up to his mouth and kissing it.
"Why not?"
"Cause he broke your heart. I remember how crushed you were when he told you it wasn't working out,"Nick said.
"But then we became friends after that, and it was a long time ago Nick. I thought I loved him, but I never knew what love was until I fell for you,"Jessica said, giving him a little smile and kissed him.
Nick sighed,"So when is this thing happening?"
"Saturday. You have some stuff to do that day and I'm always bored with the same old stuff, like going shopping with Leighanne. It's not that I don't love Leigh but I think I've maxed my credit card anyway."
"But why do you have to have dinner? Can't it be lunch? It sounds less like a date that way,"Nick whined.
"Oh stop being a baby. It's not a date and you know it,"Jessica said, climbing onto his lap.
"But it sounds like one. And I'm not a baby,"Nick complained.
"You act like one. How bout the practical joke you and Brian played on Howie with his shampoo the other day? Come on now, you guys are too old to be doing that kinda stuff."
"Hey, that was funny,"Nick said, smiling while remembering the joke.
"Poor Howie didn't think so,"Jessica said.
"Oh please. Howie needs to lighten up."
"I think Howie's just tired of acting like your babysitter."
"He's not my babysitter. That's why you're here. I've been bad, I need to be punished Jess,"Nick smirked.
"Let's not go there right now, besides I don't see you enough these days to be your babysitter,"Jessica pointed out.
"Oh don't start Jess ok?"
"I know, I know you're busy with the new record, plans for the tour after your album, interviews, photoshoots, TV appearances, blah blah blah."
Nick grabbed her and pulled her in to meet his lips. His tongue moved with hers and they layed down on the bed.
"I have an hour before I gotta leave again,"Nick mumbled, breaking the kiss. Jessica smiled and pulled him to her again.
"I'm so glad there's another female I can talk to Leigh. You're my best friend in the whole world,"Jessica giggled.
"Yeah you're my best friend too,"Leighanne smiled.
"So seriously, you don't think going with Joey is wrong?"Jessica asked
"Jess you need to stop listening to Nick whine so much. No it's not wrong. Why should it be? You're friends, there's nothing wrong with friends going out for dinner. Nick needs to grow up that's what he needs and start to trust you. He knows you love him so there shouldn't be a problem,"Leighanne said.
"Well that's Nick for you,"Jessica said with a sigh,"Sometimes I can't even believe I'm in love with someone so immature. He's such a goofball, but I love him."
"That's like Brian. Brian's so crazy, but he makes me laugh all the time, and I need that in a relationship. He makes things interesting. It's better than having a boring boyfriend. And Brian knows when it's time to be serious too, so that's good."
"Yeah,"Jessica agreed with a nod.
"So don't worry bout anything Jess. As long as it's a strictly a friendship thing, which it is, then you're not doing anything wrong. Don't let Nick get to you about this,"Leighanne advised.
"I know but it's so hard, cause I know he's really worried about this. Maybe you should come along just to assure him it's not a date which he really believes it is,"Jessica said.
"I don't know, I'd feel left out. I mean, you guys would all be talking and stuff, and I'd just feel like the third wheel,"Leighanne replied.
"No you wouldn't, Joey will talk to you and I'll talk to you. I'll make sure you don't feel like the third wheel. Pleassse Leigh...for me and for Nick?" Jessica begged her friend.
Leighanne sighed,"Oh all right. Is it casual or fancy?"
"I can't believe you're actually going,"Nick sulked as he watched his girlfriend get dressed on Saturday, right before he had to leave.
Jessica ignored his comment,"Blue or black?" She held up two dresses for him to see.
"Well, I like the black one better on you, so go with the blue,"Nick said.
Jessica rolled her eyes, "Fine, I was going to wear the blue anyway. If it'll make you feel better, I'll wear it."
"I still can't believe you're going,"Nick muttered.
"Well believe it, because I'm going. I can't believe you're still not over this. I told you, Joey and I are just friends now. Besides, Leighanne's coming with us to reassure you that IT'S NOT A DATE,"Jessica said, slipping the dress over her head. "Do I have to wear an I Love Nick sign around my neck and ring a bell for you to realize that I don't like him anymore, you're my boyfriend, and this isn't a date? You're paranoind that's all. Either that, or you don't trust me."
"You're right I am paranoid, I'm sorry Jess, it's just that I don't want to lose you. I never felt this way about anyone before you. You showed me what love is and I don't want anyone stealing you away from me,"Nick said quietly. "I never thought I'd feel this way and I want it to be for forever."
Jessica's expression softened,"You're not going to lose me Nick. How do you think I feel when I see all these beautiful fans throwing themselves at you? As long as we're true to eachother then this will be forever. I don't want to lose you either, I love you too much, but a relationship is based on trust, and if we can't trust eachother then there can't be a relationship. I hope you know me enough to know that I would NEVER cheat on you and that I won't let anyone 'steal me away', as you put it."
"The only beautiful woman in my life is you and it's going to stay that way,"Nick promised.
Jessica smiled,"So you're ok with this?"
"Sure why not. I can't stop you from going anyway,"Nick said, kissing her nose,"Have fun."
"Thanks Nick," Jessica said, kissing his full lips passionately.
"Joey should be here any minute,"Jessica said as her and Leighanne sat in Jessica and Nick's hotel room.
Leighanne nodded,"What time will the boys be back?"
"Uh it was an interview sooo, late but not too late,"Jessica shrugged. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. "That's him." She walked to the door and opened it. There stood a tall and handsome darkhaired man.
"Hey Jess, you look beautiful!"Joey exclaimed giving her big hug.
"Thanks, you look pretty good yourself,"Jessica said with a smile. "Joey, I'd like you to meet my best friend, Leighanne."
"Hello gorgeous,"Joey said sexily, kissing Leighanne's hand.
"I'd save your charm for someone else, she's taken,"Jessica advised, grabbing her purse. "Ok shall we go?"
"We shall,"Joey said holding the door open for the 2 women.
"Quite the handsome charmer we've got here,"Leighanne whispered to Jessica as the got into the hallway.
"Tell me about it,"Jessica whispered back.
"Now I know why Nick was so nervous bout you seeing this guy again,"Leighanne said. Jessica looked at Leighanne and shrugged. They all walked to the elevator, making small talk as they walked.
"I'm sorry boys we have to cancel for tonight. We're really overly busy. We'll call your managers and schedule another day for the interview. Sound good?" one of the editors for Teen People said to the guys.
"That's fine,"Kevin said, speaking for them all.
"Alright then, we'll see you soon,"the editor said and walked off.
"Yes! Free night!"AJ exclaimed.
"Too bad my girlfriend and Rok's girlfriend are off galavanting with this guy who knows how to charm his way into any girl's pants,"Nick muttered.
"Start to trust your girlfriend Nick,"Keving said.
"I do trust her!"Nick snapped.
"Um, he can charm his way into ANY girl's pants?"Brian asked nervously. Nick nodded.
"Maybe we should just go and um...check up on them. Just to make sure, he's not trying anything,"Nick said.
"Oh no! I will not let you two go and SPY on your girlfriends!" Howie yelled.
"Who said anything about spying? We're just goin to see if they're alright and then leave,"Nick said simply.
"That's spying,"AJ informed. "And if they catch you there, you'll both be sleepin out in the hallways tonight. Not to mention having them pissed off of at you guys for a very, very long time."
"Can you see them?" Nick hissed to Brian as they both ducked behind a potted plant in the elegant French restaurant.
"I can't believe you talked me into this!" Brian groaned, "She's going to think I don't trust her."
"No it's him we don't trust. That guy's a rat,"Nick said. "Hey Bri, your wig's crooked."
Brian rolled his eyes and reajusted the blond wig Nick had convinced him to put on for "extra protection."
"Nick, have you lost your mind, man? I'm serious, the lights are on but nobody's home,"Brian smirked pointing to Nick's head.
"Shut up! I didn't lose my mind, I just don't want to lose my girlfriend. I don't care what she says, I don't trust this guy!" Nick exclaimed. "Look! There they are."
Brian peeked to the side of the tall plant,"Wow, they look too pretty for this nondate tonight. And look at this guy! I can't compete with that !"
"I told you!" Nick said. "What are they doing?"
"Talking...oh and he just touched Jess's hand..."Brian observed.
"He touched her?! MY Jessica??" Nick fumed
"Nick relax, it was like a friendly touch. Like this,"Brian said, touching Nick's hand.
"Well as long as he wasn't groping her or anything,"Nick sighed.
"Nope. No groping going on over there,"Brian said.
"You know, we're being jealous, over pretective, boyfriends. Let's go back to the hotel,"Nick said.
"Nick, my man, YOU were the jealous, over pretective, not to mention, total nut case of a boyfriend. I just came along to make sure you don't end up in trouble,"Brian said.
Nick rolled his eyes,"Yeah right Brian."
"Hey! Who's the lunatic that talked me into all this?" Brian said, pointing the the wig and motioning around him. "Anyways, let's go before they see us."
Nick nodded and they tip-toed away.
"Going somewhere fellas?" a female voice asked.
Both of their eyes got wide and the slowly spun around.
Brian laughed nervously,"Hi baby."
"Have you two gone insane?? What's a matter with you!" Jessica exclaimed.
"We can explain...it's um, uh, not what it looks like,"Nick stuttered.
"Oh really?? Because it looks like you two were spying on us with those ridiculous wigs on!" Leighanne yelled.
"Ok so it is what it looks like, but let us explain,"Brian pleaded.
"There's nothing to explain! Go back to the hotel! I can't believe this! You don't trust us. I don't know what's wrong with you two but just leave ok? We don't want to see you,"Jessica angrily replied. Her and Leighanne stalked back to their table.
"Man did we screw up,"Nick muttered.
"You know I should've never let you talk me into this. Now I'm in deep crap with Leighanne,"Brian snapped, annoyed.
"Well I didn't hold a gun to your head Brian!"Nick yelled and walked out of the restaurant with Brian trailing behind him.
"Listen Nick, I'm sorry. I know you're probably gonna be in more trouble then I am. I shouldn't have blamed you. You're absolutely right, you didn't hold a gun to my head. I came on my own,"Brian apologized.
"You're right you shouldn't have blamed me,"Nick said not looking at him as he flagged down a cab. The two got in and were back at the Plaza in a few minutes.
Nick sat in his room, watching late night TV, waiting for Jessica to come back. He had been miserble all night. He did trust her, he really did, he was just insecure about the fact she was going out with an ex who she once cared a great deal about. He was scared out of his mind that he would lose her. Now, because of his stupid behavior she was pissed beyond belief. It would probably take him weeks for him to get her to forgive him. Nick layed down on the bed and switched through the channels. Moments later the door opened and Jessica appeared.
"Hey,"Nick said sheepishly.
"I can't believe you. You're such a prick!" Jessica yelled.
"Look I'm sorry! I did a stupid thing! I do trust you I swear I do!" Nick yelled back.
"After all we talked about, you STILL had the audacity to spy on me! Go room with AJ tonight Nick, I don't even want to look at you,"Jessica demanded.
"No this is my room too! I'm not leaving,"Nick replied, crossing his arms stubbornly.
"Fine! I'll leave. I'll room with AJ. Are you sure you want that? I know how you get when I'm with another guy. You know AJ might want to jump my bones..."Jessica said, her blue eyes narrowing.
"Jess, I'm so sorry, I'm stupid, immature, jealous, over pretective, and a dumbass. Please don't go. I love you and I don't want you to be mad at me,"Nick pleaded.
Jessica's glare was still icy,"You can't always beg and give me that face and think everything will be ok. What you did was wrong and proved to me that you don't trust me. I told you before, relationships are based on trust Nick. We have to trust eachother for it to work."
Nick looked down sadly, "I know and all I can say is I'm really really sorry. Maybe I should stay at AJ's for the night."
Jessica sighed,"No Nick don't do that. Do you promise me that you'll never do anything like this and you'll always trust me, because I would never do anything to hurt you. EVER."
Nick nodded quickly,"I promise!"
Jessica smiled slightly,"Come here you big baby."
Nick smiled and walked over to her putting his arms around her slim waist.
"You really are a baby, you know that?" Jessica said playfully.
"Hey I'm still bigger then you!"
"Yeah and more immature!"
"Yeah we established that already."
"Just kiss me Nick."
Nick didn't argue and beant down to kiss her. He seperated her full lips with his tongue and kissed her with as much passion as he had. They both seperated breathless.
"Can you promise me something Jess?"
"Depends."
"Don't call me a prick again."
Jessica bursted out laughing,"You deserved it, but ok I promise." She then pulled him down to kiss her again while pushing him over to the bed. She broke away and whispered in his ear, "Are you ready for the most erotic night of your life?"
Nick smiled widely,"Oh yeah." He felt her hand travel down to his covered manhood and squeeze. A low moan escaped his lips as Jessica pushed him onto the bed and climbed on him. He knew he was in for the night of his life.
