"Morning,"Nick chirped, walking over and giving her a kiss on her lips.
"Well you're giddy this morning. And up awfully early I might add,"Jessica said with a grin.
"I had to take off the plastic wrap from AJ's door. We forgot to last night,"Nick grinned. "Man we got him good. Nothing will ever top that. The look on his face..."
He didn't finish because he had errupted into yet another fit of laughter. Jessica couldn't help but laugh along with him.
"We were REAL good,"Nick grinned, sitting on the bed and pulling Jessica to him.
"I admit, that was good,"Jessica replied, getting up.
"Stay,"Nick whined, pulling her back down on the bed and kissed her neck.
"Can't baby, wish I could. We gotta be out of here soon. Hmm, I'm surprised we haven't gotten the daily call from Kevin. He's due,"Jessica said looking at the clock.
"Can I just have a kiss?"Nick asked innocently, with a sweet smile.
"Don't try to act all angelic with me Carter,"Jessica said with a knowing grin.
"What? I'm not doing anything. I just want a kiss from my beautiful girlfriend is all. Is that so bad?"Nick asked with a pout.
"Oh PLEASE Nick,"Jessica groaned.
"Oh that's what you'll be saying in a few minutes once I get a hold of you,"Nick said impishly, now back in character. He gave his eyebrows a little wiggle and pulled her to him.
"Just shut up Nicky,"Jessica laughed as he kissed her cheek and then her lips deeply. He layed her down on the bed, kissing her while his hand crept between her legs. Jessica moaned softly.
"See I knew you would like this,"Nick said softly, moving her panties aside gently. "I want you so bad Jess. I need to be inside you."
"Oh god, please Nicky,"Jessica whimpered.
He smiled playfully and looked at her pretty face which was full of longing. His blue eyes connected with hers,"Told ya you'd be saying that."
Jessica laughed and pulled his face down to hers and kissed him. As if on que, the phone rang.
"Damn Kevin. Damn him to hell,"Nick groaned.
Jessica picked up the phone,"Kevin, we're up ok?"
"Actually Jess, it's Brian. Something serious happened,"Brian said, his voice serious and sad.
Jessica's eyes widened,"Brian...what is it??"
"Kelly's in the hospital. There was an accident last night and she took some pill at the club she went to. It was all these drugs in this one pill. They told me it was a cocktail pill or something. She didn't know what it was but she took it anyway. She OD'd and she's in a coma,"Brian said, choking up while he spoke. "They don't know if she's going to make it."
Jessica's hand flew to her mouth and tears flooded her eyes,"Oh my god. NO!"
Kelly Lyshevski was one of the dancers on the tour and also one of Jessica's close friends. She had been the first one out of all the dancers to accept Jessica on the tour. The rest didn't know how to act around her because she was Nick Carter's girlfriend therefore they shunned and ignored her. But Kelly was different. She was sweet and kind and accepted her immediately. She didn't have to prove herself to Kelly like she had to with the others. Kelly just took her as she was. Jessica knew she wasn't the type that was into drugs and didn't deserve to be lying in a hospital bed in a coma.
"Brian please tell me it's not true,"Jessica cried out, the tears flowing down her cheeks. "Not Kelly..."
Nick's eyebrows furrowed and he whispered softly,"What is it Jess? What happened??"
"I'm sorry Jess,"was all Brian said.
"Jessica what's going on?!"Nick asked, his pitch rising as he scooted over to his now trembling girlfriend.
He took the phone out of Jessica's hands as she stook there shaking and crying,"Brian what the fuck is going on??"
"Kelly's in a coma Nick. They don't think she's going to wake up. She took some kind of pill,"Brian said softly. Nick could tell he was crying.
"Oh god,"Nick whispered, his eyes widening. "Kelly's not like that Brian. She's better than that. She couldn't have taken some kind of drug."
"She did Nick,"Brian replied, his voice cracking.
"You cancelled the show tonight, right?"Nick said, still stunned.
"Taken care of,"Brian said quietly. "We're going to the hospital in a little while. Kelly's parents and her fiancee are flying in from DC right now."
"Oh god Bri. I can't believe it. Kelly's not like that. Did someone put it in her drink? What if she's not ok?"Nick asked, still processing the information in his head.
"From what I was told she took it on her own,"Brian answered. "Listen I've got to go. And you go comfort your girlfriend Nick."
"Yeah, bye Brian,"Nick said softly and hung up the phone. He looked over at Jessica. She brought her small hand up to her tear-stained cheeks and wiped them. The crying had subsided some.
"She's going to be ok Nick,"Jessica said softly, trying to convince herself.
"Yeah,"Nick said simply, taking Jessica into his arms. She grasped him tightly and closed her eyes to keep the tears from spilling out.
Nick kissed the side of her face, tasting her salty tears on his lips,"Let's go get dressed."
Jessica unlatched herself, not really wanting to let go of him, and got off of the bed.
They got dressed in silence and met the others who were just as somber as they were. The Boys along with the dancers, musicians, and crew all went to the hospital together.
They all sat in the waiting room, in complete silence, waiting for Kelly's family.
"You know, she was going to get married in the spring?"Jessica said softly, staring down at the floor. "She told me how much she loved him. She knew he was the one she was meant to be with."
Nick put an arm around her,"She'll be ok Jess..."
"You heard what they said. The life support is the only thing keeping her alive. They have to wait until her parents come to make a decision what to do. She didn't deserve this Nick,"Jessica said, her eyes welling up again.
"No one deserves this Jess,"Nick replied softly, his eyes connecting with hers as he wiped a lone tear off of her cheek.
"She's a beautiful person and it isn't fair that she's lying in that bed right now,"Jessica said, shaking her head while Nick pulled her thin body close.
"No it's not,"Nick agreed.
2 days later...
Jessica adjusted the bottom of her knee length black dress and knelt by the casket that was surrounded by beautiful arrangements of multicolored flowers reading 'daughter', 'friend', 'girlfriend'. The atmosphere was dark and somber and sad. Jessica's head hung low, almost afraid to look at the lifeless body of one of her closest friends. She brought her deep blue eyes up only to see a body and a face that she didn't even recognize. It didn't even look like her. Why couldn't they make her look like herself?? Jessica's eyes were dark with tears as she clasped her hands together to say a pray for her dear friend who died way too young. She could hear the faint, muffled sobs of Kelly's mother in the background and the room was eerily quiet.
Jessica bit her lip as another tear escaped from her eye. It just wasn't fair. She crossed herself and then stood up, saying one last goodbye to her. She spotted Nick in the corner of the room with his other four bandmates. His eyes connected with hers, the expression on his face a mix of sadness and sorrow for the family who had lost a daughter and a fiancee and the friends who had lost one of most genuinely kind people they had ever known. Jessica averted her eyes from Nick's and saw Dave, Kelly's fiancee. He was sitting in a chair in the first row, his head hung low and his hands over his face. Jessica couldn't see his face, but she knew he was crying. Next to him was Kelly's family. Her mother, her father, and her two sisters. All heartbroken. The sight broke Jessica's own heart. She felt Nick's hand on the small of her back and she turned to look at him, the pain evident in her own eyes. He instinctively wrapped his arms around her body while she buried her face in his black suit jacket.
"It doesn't even look like her Nick,"Jessica whispered, her voice hoarse.
He didn't answer, just simply led her over to a chair by the rest of the guys and sat her down, taking the seat next to her.
She leaned her head on his shoulder as he linked his fingers with hers.
That night at the concert the Boys made a special tribute to Kelly. Her family had wanted them to tell everyone exactly what happened to her so other kids wouldn't made the same sad mistake their daughter had made. The whole audience was completely silent as the guys spoke of Kelly, many even crying. Jessica had never been more touched as that night as she watched thousands of teenaged girls and 5 grown men cry. It had been something she would never forget. Something about that night would be embedded in her mind. There was something about the atmosphere that evening...the lighting, the boys, the fans, the concert...it was the same as always, but different. Jessica had never been more touched.
Author's Note: When I wrote this chapter, I wanted something to happen that would make the readers think. This pill that the character Kelly took does exist. It's not something that I created from my imagination. It's a cocktail pill that has the most powerful drugs (cocaine, heroine, etc.) combined into one form.I can not stress enough how powerful this is. I knew people who took one pill that ended up in hospitals as vegetables, foaming at the mouth. They thought that it was harmless and they'd just get a little high. But it's not harmless. I'm not trying to sound like an after school special or anything, but I pray to all of you to be careful. Don't take anything that you don't know what it is. Don't take drugs, period. It's not cool, it's stupid. But I just wanted to make everyone aware that this drug DOES exist and to please be careful.
