Chapter Thirteen
The airport was insanely crowded. I mean this is Wisconsin. I know I keep saying that but there's more people in the airport than I thought this state had in it's entire population. Ok, ok, enough Wisconsin cracks, I'm done now.
So anyway, after waiting a half hour at baggage claim and fighting off the hordes of people. My luggage and I left the hotel in a taxi that I had called. About 75 butterflies filled my stomach and I became nervous. I knew I was being ridiculous because Nick loved me and I knew that he did. After what he had done for me with the flowers I never got to see and the song I never got to hear was just amazing, even if I didn't get to enjoy it. He made his attempt to patch things up and now it was my turn. I was going to fix things between the two of us because he was the only man for me. He filled the empty part of me and I wasn't going to be stupid and stubborn and lose him over a silly fight.
"We're here doll,"the cab driver called to me, looking at me through the rear view mirror.
"Yes, thank you,"I replied with a big smile, unable to control the feeling that was overtaking me. "I'm going to see my boyfriend." Not like he would remotely care, but I was too happy and felt like someone should know.
"Lucky, lucky man,"he grinned back.
"I'm a lucky woman,"I said in return and paid him and grabbed my luggage, stepping out of the cab.
I faced the luxurious hotel and stared up in awe. Once again I felt in between two different worlds, but this time it didn't matter because Nick wanted me for who I was. A part of me felt like I didn't belong here with all the glitz and glamour and spotlight, but a bigger part of me knew none of it mattered and that part won out. If I let the petty bullshit get in the way I knew I would lose him.
So I sucked it up and pushed passed the girls that seemed to follow them wherever they went. In the lobby, I spotted my "buddy", Nick's bodyguard, from the night AJ left me the note for Nick. Great, I was going to get slack from him now. Just what I needed at the moment. I already felt like I was going to throw up.
G spotted me right away. I guess they have a knack for those kinda things. A big shit-eating grin swept across his face. "Hey Angie."
I rolled my eyes,"Hi Gerald."
"Jesus, don't let anyone hear you say that! No one heard did they??"he hissed at me.
"I don't know GERALD,"I smirked.
"Real cute. Anyway, so the two of you finally came to your goddamn senses eh?"
I grinned widely,"Did you hear what he did for me??"
He laughed,"Oh yeah. The first romantic thing that boy's ever done in his life."
"I love him,"I said softly with a smile.
"He loves you,"he replied. "I ain't ever seen him with a girl like he is with you."
"Thanks,"I said, squeezing his large hand.
"I mean it. I ain't lying to ya, darlin'"G replied.
I laughed,"So is my sweetheart around?"
"Damn kid hasn't left the room all afternoon. Course he's around. He's been fuckin miserable since you've been gone. I was almost ready to beat some sense into his blond head,"G rolled his eyes and crossed his big, muscled arms. I stared up at him (he had at LEAST a foot on me) and laughed.
"I missed everyone,"I said honestly. And I did. I loved this group so much. They were all so tight with eachother and they welcomed me with no questions asked.
"Angela. Do you love him. I mean REALLY love him because if you don't don't fuck with him and break his heart,"G warned. I was appalled he'd even ask me that question. He knew how I felt about Nick.
"Of course I love him. Would I be back if I didn't? How can you even ask me that?"I said, my eyes narrowing. I was dangerously close to making a scene.
"I'm sorry, I know you do. We missed you kiddo. Now come on, I'll take you to see your boy. Thank the good lord we won't have to hear his mouth anymore,"G said loudly and started walking toward the elevator.
As we rode up to Nick's floor in silence, the butterflies in my stomach seemed to multiply which was doing nothing for my confidence and was one big pain in the ass.
G looked at me and laughed. I'm glad I could amuse him. At least I was amusing somebody around here. "Calm down Ang. If you chew off your lip Nick won't want to kiss you." It was a lovely nervous habit I had. Along with picking at my nail cuticles which I had torn to pieces right now and close to drawing blood.
"I don't know why I'm nervous,"I said, running a hand through my loose hair then tucking it behind my ears.
"I dunno either,"G replied as we walked out. We walked down the hair and finally stopped in front of one of the suite room doors. He knocked sharply and quickly and I looked down at the carpet, suddenly fascinated my the gold patterns on the plush deep red floor. "Carter open up."
"I'm tired, call me later,"came a low mumble from the room. It was Nick. Oh lordy somebody get a paramedic ready.
"Nick I ain't playin open up!"
"Jesus crist, I can't even have any time to myself!" There was a loud childish stomping along with the comments and then a bang followed by a yell and a string of curses. "FUCK!! Fuck, fuck, FUCK!!!" I couldn't help but laugh while G rolled his eyes. That's Nicky for ya. Some things never change.
The door swung open,"I hit my fuckin toe, I hope you're happy and now I-" He stopped in midsentence. God did he look GOOD. Tight black t-shirt, loose faded jeans, and his hair was gelfree and natural, falling in front of his forehead.
"Ya know, I found this chick wandering outside. Says you wrote her a note,"G said playfully.
An adorable smile broke across his face. You know he's one of those people that when he smiles you can't help but smile back. Needless to say I found myself grinning like a moron.
"I'm gonna kill AJ,"he played along.
"I can always leave,"I said, looking into his very blue eyes.
He smiled at me, holding my stare,"You might as well stay."
"I missed you Nicky,"I said softly, stopping the little game, all the love I ever felt for the man welling up inside of me.
It was then that he pulled me close, hugging me tightly. I felt warm and safe and loved.
"Well I'll leave you two kids along,"G said smirking.
"Thanks G,"Nick said, not letting go of me. My head was pressed to his chest as his hand weaved through my hair. He kissed the top of my head so lightly that I barely felt it.
"Bye,"I managed to choke out.
Nick pulled me into the room and shut the door quickly. He backed me up against the wall and cupped my face in his hands, looking straight into my soul. His full, pink lips met mine and he kissed me. I melted into his kiss, feeling weak in the knees as I kissed him back. It was one of the most intense and passionate and truly perfect kisses Nick and I had ever shared. My arms wrapped around his neck as I clung to him, getting lost in the moment. Time stopped and I never wanted it to end.
Nick and I broke the kiss and stared at eachother, breathing heavily. Words would ruin the moment. We both knew that. He pulled me close again and rested his head on top of mine.
After a moment he spoke,"I missed you too Angela."
