Good Friday

I have not been to the library today for one very good reason (besides not wanting to go). I do not wish to know if it is open. My suspicion is that it is closed...and I therefore would not wish to waste time going, but if it wasn't I would probably be VERY annoyed, and that wouldn't do me any good either. Let's just say that if the library closes on Pulaski Day...but not Good Friday...I would not be a happy person.

It is April, as we all know...and a time of much rain. The result is that the greenish brown water that runs through campus (tentatively named the Chicago River) has gotten EXTREMELY high and the trees that were once by the bank...are now midway into the river. It is really very funny. Yesterday, as the sidekick and I were about to go out when we noticed two ducks floating VERY RAPIDLY down the river...we laughed because it was so obvious they were out of control. As it happens...they were heading for a tree...they both turned sideways, as though to avoid certain calamity by slowing down...but they kept sliding just as fast. They gave up, then, and concentrated their efforts on missing the tree. They suceeded, much to our sadistic disappointment.
