Joey

You knew it would coming, friends...the complaining, the months of work set aside at the Palace, the unpredictable behavior (ok, that will never change) and, most importantly, the inability to see my screen have hinted that perhaps...

Joey has passed on to his final resting place

I think

Naturally, he couldn't go in a normal way. He had to lose his video card...which basically means that I can't see anything that is going on...even though the computer is fully functional. Shouldn't be that hard to fix, right? Well, maybe it is easy...but it is also $300, minimum.

I really hate the tech people on the phone. "Yes, you can download the drivers you need to see your screen."<--no one notices ANYTHING wrong with that?

This is similar to the problem I encountered when trying to find out about my warranty. I got Joey in an online auction...so I had my mother find the site and tell me the phone number. (Clearly, since I don't have a computer...I can't do that.) So, I called them up...and found out they do all their customer service and technical help via e-mail. I laughed, though "of course you do" and hung up the phone in a violent flurry of arms. I was supposed to download the solution to my problem...and e-mail in my complaint...on a computer that doesn't work. Lovely. Clever system, though. I can just imagine the office meeting that led to this. "So...what are we going to do about all these complaints?" Then the late drunk guy pipes up, "Dude, just have them e-mail complaints." The boss gives him a look..."But they are most likely having COMPUTER problems, how are they supposed to...hmm... I see your point." Sadly, nothing so classic actually happened.

So...if you have any problems with the Palace...give me a call.
