My little talk today is about something the teacher said. No, gracious, it didn't have anything to do with Art History or learning of any kind. She told us that she caught two people last semester plagiarizing. What about this bothers me? Do you know already? Am I that shocked that someone would commit such a wrong against the writers? Am I that irritated that they didn't make a footnote?
NO!!! I really don't care about all that. What irritates the hell out of me is the fact that when I asked (yes, I really asked--in the middle of her speech) I was told that they copied the TEXT BOOK. AHHH!!! It is like saying, "Hi, catch me." Completely stupid. To be perfectly honest, I almost respect cheaters that get away with it. Particularly plagiarism. That is risky business. But the TEXT BOOK? Can we PLEASE cease in our stupidity for a moment to wonder if just MAYBE the teacher will recognize it? It is true, there ARE stupid teachers out there...but even THEY read the text to find out what they are assigning.
This is just another small piece in my war against stupidity.
